All Music Guide - Matt Collar
Foster the People's 2011 full-length debut Torches expands upon the indie electronic outfit's '80s synth-meets-'60s psych pop sound. Buoyed by the online buzz surrounding the band's single "Pumped Up Kicks," Foster the People have crafted a batch of similarly catchy, electro-lite dance-pop that fits nicely next to such contemporaries as MGMT and Phoenix. To these ends you get the aforementioned anthem "Pumped Up Kicks," as well as the hypnotic disco hop track "Call It What You Want." Equally compelling are such deep cuts as the yearning, melancholy ballad "I Would Do Anything for You" and the foot stomping arcade game-sounding anthem "Houdini." Burning with a hot track ...

    GET THIS NOW!!!!

This was by far one of the best albums of the year, right up there with Mylo Xyloto and El Camino, and I absolutely love it!!! Foster The People is totally different and you absolutely need to check them out. This album is so well executed and it is certainly a work of art. If you are even considering buying it, GET IT.

Quite possibly the Best Album of the last 10 years!!

I was blown away by this album. It is so perfectly executed, I am finding it hard to think of a better album in the past 10 years. The uniqueness of this band is enchanting. One of the best things about the album is the way they relay the messages behind the songs. The music makes you think, and understand what someone else could be feeling, all the while tapping your toes to serious issues. Ingenious!!! My favorite song on the album is Waste. It is just the perfect song about how when you care for someone, you have the tendency to forget all their faults. You learn to accept their demons, and work to help them through the tough times. It is a ballad about love, and all the issues that may arise along the way. I have had this album for almost 6 months now, and have not taken it out of my CD player. I don't know if that has ever happened in all the years I have been listening to music, but I am glad to have fallen in love with this band and the music they put out.

    Surprise!

This was a big surprise for me. I loved the clubs in the 80's and don't hear much dance music anymore but a friend had this and when I heard it it blew me away. Every song is good and has a good beat to it. You don't get that from a whole cd anymore and you feel like you wasted your money. Get this one and it'll be one of your favorites!

    Holy dang!

This is easily the catchiest album i've heard in years!! Perfect timing for the hot summer weather... it's the ultimate summer day album. Trip to the beach with windows down, wakeboarding on a boat, canoeing in a lake.... it's the perfect summer soundtrack!
if you're a fan... check out their latest music video for helena beat... you will love it!
