Sometimes, the thing you want belongs to someone else...

Jack - Once upon a time I had everything. The perfect family. The perfect life. In one horrible year, it went away. I can never have it back but I can hurt the man responsible for taking what was left. I know how to steal something even more important from him. He doesn't see how she looks at me instead of him. I can make her burn for me, make her addicted to me before I send her back.

And it will be so easy.

Tora - I'll cross any line to get to the truth, no matter who I have to hurt. I don't have a choice. I'm not afraid to use sex to get what I want. I know you think that makes me a whore. But until you understand what's at stake, you can't know.

Don't judge me until you do.

Sometimes, you have to take what you want no matter what it costs.

But felt some parts were repetitive. Interesting characters but very predictable plot, once the scene was set.

I started reading not knowing what the book was about, it was very interesting, exciting and had lots of drama to keep one totally engaged.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. This book is divided into three parts. It opens with playboy Jack Manning at his controlling, power-hungry step-mother, Miranda Manning's, funeral. We are introduced to his step-brother Seth Manning, and Seth's fiance' Tora Blake. This series has many twists and turns, slowly uncovered lies, and heavy family issues. Experiencing a instant attraction, upon meeting, Jack and Tora begin a secret affair. I do not like cheating, but I soon learned that Tora has only aligned herself to Seth to uncover the lies that Miranda had used to destroy her family. She tells Jack that much, explaining to him, for her at least, the relationship is a lie. Learning more about their past, I feel for Jack. Not only had he lost so much as a young man, but Miranda had saw to the removal of more of what he loved, from his life, even in death. I liked how Tora slowly brought out the caring, protective sides of Jack. Those traits were very foreign to him, just like the aspect of a long term relationship. I liked how strong Tora was, and her determination to continue on with her lies. I was very impressed with her ability to tolerate Seth's immature, abusive tantrums. There were so many complex faces to Tora that gave her character a lot of depth. Further, loss was a common bond for her and Jack. I loved how they opened up to one another, shared hurts, and fond memories, By the second book, the relationship felt more like a true blooming romance. Lastly, there was a mention of a character from the Great Wolves MC series, so I thought to mention this, in case someone has not read that series too, or caught the connection. Loved this series and great characters! - Sarah
