Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Many women turn to crash diets and exhaustive workouts when they want to lose fat and inches instead of setting realistic goals and making fitness and good nutrition lifelong habits. Here, peak performance coach and educator Luxbacher and his coauthors argue that a more effective approach is to use skill, knowledge, and attitude to lose weight, get fit, and eat healthfully. Luxbacher offers strategies for women of all ages and fitness levels to help them lose weight, develop strong muscles and bones, gain more energy, and make fitness a lifelong habit. Readers will learn how to determine their current fitness level and create an exercise program. Sample aerobic, strength, and flexibility exercise plans are also included, complemented by illustrations and healthy eating suggestions, and special chapters target children, pregnant women, and older women. This book is informative and easy to read, but it does not offer much that's new. An optional choice for larger fitness and exercise collections; libraries owning Miriam Nelson's "Strong Women" series (e.g., Strong Women Eat Well, Strong Women Stay Slim) could probably skip.
