Library Journal - Library JournalThis audiobook repackages three of Naparstek's popular "Health Journeys" series into a very useful program for the person who seeks to improve overall health and well-being. The listener is offered techniques to obtain the base elements of good health: assisting the body to maintain health and to heal when ill; reducing and controlling stress; and getting quality sleep. Each title offers differing techniques, based on guided imagery. Only some of the introductory material, which includes safety warnings, is repeated. In two of the sets, Naparstek includes a section of affirmations to help invoke the conscious and unconscious parts of oneself to assist in healing. General Wellness offers an exercise as well as affirmations to help users call upon inner and outer resources to maintain health. Healthful Sleep presents an exercise followed by a music program that can help lull the listener toward a relaxed sleep. Stress offers the most varied techniques, to reduce general anxiety and develop a more objective view of those things that one does, or does not, control. There is also a "walking meditation" that people who cannot sit still for guided imagery find useful. Naparstek's pacing is excellent, and the background music is nonintrusive. Highly recommended for all public libraries and health collections that do not own the individual volumes or where a basic tool to promote general health is wanted. Kathleen Sullivan, Phoenix P.L.
