Meet the Author

Dan Smee is a returning Iraq War veteran who served as a combat medic with the U.S. Army and is proud to have served his country. He was originally discharged from the Army in 1987, but joined the Amy National Guard after 9/11. His resilience and optimism were inspired by his front-line war experiences. Shoba Sreenivasan is a forensic psychologist with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and postdoctoral training in forensics. In addition to a forensic practice and an academic position, she works at the Veterans Administration. She remains inspired by veterans—their valor, their pride, their optimism, and their loud proclamations in support of our country.

A one of a kind exciting new book!

Fabulous and motivating book revealing the American Dream that everyone can achieve if they apply the simple principles and concepts in the book. This book not only inspired me but gives me some tools to actually take action in my life and be more successful. I especially like the take away points after each chapter. I highly recommend.

"Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success." Napoleon Hill

This book captures the American spirit of optimism and resilience and is a must read for anyone in need of inspiration and guidance during these challenging times. The authors bring a unique and underrepresented perspective in the self-help market: achieving self-empowerment and resilience through the use of empirically valid techniques. Totally American represents decades of experiential research, both on and off the battlefield. Written by an Iraq war veteran and a world renown forensic psychologist and academician, Totally American provides an evidence based instructional guide on how to reframe challenges into gifts and opportunities. I plan to keep this book close by as a resource and for inspiration.
