Editorial Reviews

VOYA
High school senior Laurel Shadrach thinks that life is going great until she finds her brother drunk and bleeding on the kitchen floor. She strives to follow her faith, but temptations and problems are constantly thrown in her path. Her brother wants her to keep his drinking from their parents. Her ex-boyfriend wants to get back together and causes problems with her current boyfriend. Her best friend thinks Laurel betrayed her by spreading the word that she has AIDS. Another friend has had an abortion yet will not stop having sex. Laurel is burdened with worry over all these situations and calls on her faith to help her through them. She finally learns that she needs to communicate with her parents as well, and they will help her navigate the difficult teen years. The story is written from Laurel's perspective and seems similar to a diary. As with most teens, her life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes the transition from one situation to another is abrupt, and some events could have been developed more fully. A school shooting, dealing with HIV or abortion, or teen substance abuse are all themes that could have been expanded into a complete story. This novel would appeal most to those looking for Christian fiction or to fans of the Laurel Shadrach series, but it is not an essential purchase. Highly Recommended

This is a great book to help young teens in their Christian walk as it pertains to dating. My youth group is reading the series and they love it. It is relevant to the things that really go in in their lives today.

If you are a christian that is a teenager you need to read this book!

this book is a sequal to the first one. It is an excellant choice for any teenager that chooses to read it. I finished it in less than two hours tops. it is in first person narrative and it draws you in and doesnt let you out until the end. I love to read and write and i strongly encourage you to read this book. i hope to some day become as good as an author as Mrs. Moore is today
