Overview

#1 New York Times bestseller Lisa Gardner, author of Catch Me and Love You More, returns with a heart-thumping thriller about what lurks behind the facade of a perfect family.

This is my family:  Vanished without a trace…

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life that looks good in the pages of a glossy magazine. A beautiful fifteen-year old daughter, Ashlyn. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s elite Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by friends and family.  A perfect life.

This is what I know:  Pain has a flavor…

When investigator Tessa Leoni arrives at the crime scene in the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and Taser confetti in the foyer.  The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their most personal possessions remaining behind.  No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive.  Just an entire family, vanished without a trace.

This is what I fear:  The worst is yet to come…

Tessa knows better than anyone that even the most perfect façades can hide the darkest secrets.  Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes’ innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices.  Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family?  And how far would such a person be willing to go?

This is the truth:  Love, safety, family…it is all touch and go.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
This no-holds-barred stand-alone from Thriller Award–winner Gardner opens with the brutally efficient kidnapping of the Denbe family—father Justin, wife Libby, and 15-year-old daughter Ashlyn—from their exclusive Back Bay townhouse. Law enforcement officials who get quickly involved include corporate investigator Tessa Leoni (from 2011’s Love You More) and series lead Boston Det. Sgt. D.D. Warren (Catch Me, etc.). When the trail leads out of state, New Hampshire county cop Wyatt Foster and FBI special agent Nicole Adams get on the case. Gardner effectively alternates between the physical and emotional disintegration of the family under the pressure of their captivity and the efforts of Leoni and company to dig into the secrets of Denbe Construction, its key employees, and its finances, as well as to locate the Denbes. The suspense builds as the action races to a spectacular conclusion and the unmasking of the plot’s mastermind. Agent: Meg Ruley, Jane Rotrosen Agency. (Feb.)
Library Journal
What does a perfect life look like? On the surface, Justin and Libby Denbe seem to have found it: a gorgeous townhouse in a tony district of Boston, a thriving construction business, and a beautiful teenage daughter. But appearances can be deceiving. The Denbes’ lives are turned upside down when they are brutally abducted from their home and held at an abandoned facility. The family is forced to face their demons as they are trapped together in a single cell. The dark secrets they each harbor threaten everything they hold dear.

Verdict Best-selling author Gardner (The Perfect Husband) does not disappoint with this latest thriller as she introduces readers to PI Tessa Leoni and Sgt.Wyatt Foster who, along with the FBI, are in a race to find the Denbes before it’s too late. Readers will be gripped by the page-turning suspense that leads to a thoroughly satisfying conclusion. Expect great demand. [See Prepub Alert, 8/3/12.]—Cynthia Price, Francis Marion Univ. Kirkus Reviews
A team of hard-nosed professionals interrupts a troubled couple's tentative reunion by kidnapping them both, along with their teenage daughter, in Gardner's latest kitchen-sink thrill ride. Ever since Libby Denbe caught her husband, Justin, a handsome and wealthy Boston construction czar, cheating on her, their marriage has been on life support. Their experimental night out turns into a nightmare when they return to find three masked men in their Beacon Hill home terrorizing their 15-year-old daughter, Ashlyn. Swiftly overpowered and driven off in the kidnappers' van, the family can only wonder why they're being held in an unused prison in northern New Hampshire. At the same time, corporate investigator Tessa Leoni, whose firm had been hired by Denbe Construction to handle security problems, and New Hampshire county cop Wyatt Foster wonder why all three of them were kidnapped when Justin is clearly the one worth the most money--and why long hours pass with no ransom demand. The clues point to an inside job masterminded by one of Denbe Construction's top brass: chief financial officer Ruth Chan, chief operating officer Anita Bennett, or construction manager Chris Lopez. Alternating, as in Catch Me (2012), between third-person installments of the search for leads in the case and the beleaguered heroine's first-person accounts of her torment at the hands of the bad guys, Gardner generates such irresistible momentum that most readers will forgive the combination of cool-eyed professional investigation and heavy-breathing domestic soap opera as a family even Libby describes as "three mere clichés" begins to disintegrate still further under the grueling pressure. Even readers who figure out the ringleader long before Tessa and Wyatt will get behind on their sleep turning pages to make sure they're right.

This book solidified in my mind just what a terrific mystery wri

This book solidified in my mind just what a terrific mystery writer Lisa Gardner is. Touch & Go is all about the mystery. It's the breathless chase, jam packed action and multi layered whodunit that catches the reader. It's the best of late night, under the covers reading into the wee hours of the morning kind of book. I strongly recommend it to all of you, it is a fantastic read.

The very basics of the story is outlined on the back of the book and on Gardner's website, let me paraphrase:
An entire family disappeared without a trace, with no witnesses, no motive and no ransom demand. Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life that looks good in the pages of a glossy magazine, with their gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street, their seemingly perfect marriage and their beautiful fifteen-year old daughter, Ashlyn. But when the entire family disappears without a trace, PI Tessa Leoni must  discover their innermost secrets and race against the clock to try and rescue them before their perfect life goes up in smoke.

In conclusion, let me say that this mystery kept me guessing up until the last dozen pages. This is really unusual for me. Mystery is my genre, I love to figure out what's going to happen significantly before it happens and I don't mean to sound boastful but I'm very good at it. It is so refreshing to read a whodunit and not actually know whodunit, lol. If you love mysteries like I do then go and buy Lisa Gardner's new book, you won't be  disappointed, I promise.

Lisa Gardner has always been one of my top 5 authors and I hate

Lisa Gardner has always been one of my top 5 authors and I hate the wait for her next novel to come out. Over the past 5-6 years she has really taking her writing to a level so high very few authors will ever reach it.
I have always loved reading because you are taking out of your everyday life and transported to a place and time that you could never imange. Also during this process you are able to see that book through you eyes and may and often do inject your own ideas and thoughts about what happens in the novel.
Lisa has completely taking that away from me with her increadible writing style that brings every page to real life so rich in theme and caraters there is nothing you can change because you a pulled so deep into the thriller you become part of it. All of the people are so full and real they are your best fiends, your next door neibhors, the bullys that scared the hell out of you at different stages of your life.
In a way she has one of the most twisted minds I have had the honor to know because there are so many sub-plots and twist that you could not even imange happing that you are thrown around like a rag doll on a roller coaster trying like heck to hold on for your life. After over 50 something years of constant reading there are very few books that I do not have a far idea of the out come. It is the same with Lisa novel's I get to about the last 1/4 of the book and have a super idea of how this will play out. The pace is so fast that I find I can not put the book down for a minute I have to know what is happing next. I just can not wait even though I have figured it out. Then all hell breaks out and my world and the novel explode in my hands as everything I believed is twisted so up-side down I just sit there and stare for a long time and finally say WOW where the hell did she come up with this it is so far beyond anything I had seen. I have to go back and read the whole novel a second time hoping to find the clues I missed if there were any and the out come is still the same.
Lisa in Touch & Go takes you on one of he really great thriller rides you could hope for the twist and turns are mind blowing and the pace so fast you will not get any sleep to you finish this lasted in a long line of the best reading you can find. I hope that you will take a chance if you have not yet read one of her novels you will be hooked so hard that you will find a trove of books that you have not read yet that will open a whole new world to the thriller fan.
Her book tour will be starting soon and you should check her site and she if she is close by so you have the chance to meet and hear her talk about how and what she writes and the really huge amount of time that goes into making it so real

Another winner by Lisa Gardner. She is such a talented writer. Her smooth style of writing and the sentences just seem to flow makes for an enjoyable read. Her characters are strong but not over powering and fit right into the storyline. A strong and surprise ending to a great story. Read this book, I strongly recommend it.

i thoroughly enjoyed this book. I enjoy her style of writing. There were so many turns and twists as to how the plot was unraveling that i am still thinking about this book after i have finished it. I am not going into detail about storyline as other reviewers do. I just want to say it is worth the time to relax and just read the book!

    more from this reviewer

I had the ultimate joy of being able to read this as an Advance

I had the ultimate joy of being able to read this as an Advance Reader's Copy to review as a Netgalley read for Dutton Adult Publishing.

First off, I want to start out by saying that I think this book was phenomenal!!  This is by far one of the best books Lisa Gardner has
written.  I wouldn't dream of rating this anything other than 5/5 stars!  I couldn't put it down and when I wasn't reading, that's all I wanted
to do, was to pick it back up and continue.

The story was such an interesting story from a few different perspectives, but not too many.  There seemed to be a new twist and turn
in each chapter that made you wonder and change your mind about what was going to happen.  The writing was spectacular and
insightful!  It flowed very smoothly, and kept you wanting to read until the very last page, and even once you hit the last page, it left you
wanting nothing but more, more more!  I thought it would take me hours to fall asleep after finishing this book because my mind was
racing so fast to grasp it around everything that was going on in the book.  It was very complex and intriguing!

I had many ideas throughout the story as to what the outcome would be. But even if you guessed at one time what the outcome was,
by the time the next chapter rolled around, and you were sure that it was another scenario.  It was definitely and edge-of-your seat kind
    of thrilling suspense novel.

The characters were so in depth and easy to identify with and it was so nice to hear from Tessa Leoni again from Love You More.
After reading the synopsis, I had wondered if Detective DD Warren would even be part of this story, but she was for a very short time!
In the beginning, I was afraid that I would not be as excited about this book without DD in it, however, even after her last part in the story,
I found that I had forgotten that she had even disappeared, and I also found that it didn't bother me.  Touch & Go contained very rich
and deep characters that were enjoyable to read about.

Just as with any other Lisa Gardner book that I have read, this book has left me with a huge urge to read another great book.  This
author has completely mastered the ability to write a killer mystery/suspense novel and in my opinion, is one the the best in her genre.
She never ceases to amaze me with her powerful writing abilities!

There is not one single person that I would not recommend this book to.  I honestly think this has become one of my all-time favorite
reads!  You can't go wrong with this nail-biting-till-the end story!

    Awesome!!!!

Lisa Gardner has not lets us down again. Touch & Go is a great book. Keeps you fully engrossed. With a long line of family members working in the prison system. I could hear the gates slamming shut. I could see the guards sitting in the sally ports. Like i said very engrossing book. I also liked how even though Z, and Radar were the bad guys. They still did do something right by Libby and Ashlyn.
    Keep them coming lisa!!!

With this book she moved from number two to number one on my list. If you like mystery and crime, you'll not find a better author. Kudos Ms. Gardner, thanks for another great read..
