Touch of Silverby Melissa R. Smith
It was supposed to be so simple for Devani Daniels. Stay away from Sanguines and the Militia would leave her alone. Knowing the inner workings of the fanatical organization, Devani should have realized that London Weinright, the division's current leader, wouldn't give up so easily. Now, not only is she being harassed by her Sanguine-hating co-workers, but she's alone without her one true love, Roman, the Sanguine she pushed away to keep him safe.
Despite releasing Devani from their connection, Roman has discovered the reasons behind her rejection and is determined to defy the Militia, no matter what it takes. When their paths finally cross, will Devani and Roman be able to deny what they truly feel?
Or will their love inevitably put them in Weinright's line of fire?

Meet the Author
I'm an independent author looking for a following. I've spent the past ten years writing in various genre's, including historical and contemporary fanfiction. However, most all of my full length novels are of the area of paranormal romance. You'll find my books to have strong, adult female characters, a touch of humor and minimal sexual content.
When I'm not writing, I enjoy music, swimming and spending time with my family.

Reviewed by Author Anna del C. Dye for Readers' Favorite This adult paranormal story isn’t your regular Bella meets Edward kind of saga. It gives a very nice and interesting twist to the many vampire stories out there. It uses a refreshing, renewed and great way to entertain all the vampire readers in the world without tiring them of the genre. Devani, a human woman who once was connected to a Sanguine named Roman, is being harassed by the Militia. Her father was the division leader until he retired and later died. Now his rival’s son, London, is at the head and is making a sport of torturing the previous leader’s daughters. Devani can handle London and all his bullying, but she will never let him touch her sister or her children. Roman is devastated by the loss of his companion and wants her back. Devani feels that her connection to him has caused the Sanguines a lot of pain and sorrow, so she will stay away. London knows that a very sensitive document is in Devani’s possession. If that ever became public, he and his followers would be in a lot of trouble. Smith combines a great plot and action in this paranormal romance. It has tasteful sexual situations and I recommend this great story to all adult vampire lovers. I didn't read the first book, but felt that I missed nothing by reading the second one alone. It is a good read and a page turner.
Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite "A Touch of Silver" by Melissa R. Smith is a paranormal thriller set in an alternative Portland, Oregon, where humans and Sanguines have reached an uneasy peace. This is the second book in Smith's 'Legacy series'; however, it is well-presented enough to stand alone. It is the story of Devani Daniels, the daughter of a deceased Militia leader, who is under the surveillance and scrutiny of the current Militia Chief, Weinright, and Roman, her Sanguine companion. The Militia is a quasi-official organization that is opposed to the acceptance, and seeks to regulate the lives of Sanguines. Devani and Roman have chosen to live apart because of Militia regulations, but even that precaution has not stopped Weinright from making attempts on both of their lives. This is the first book I've read in the series, and I didn't feel any confusion over reading the books out-of-order. Nor did I experience any force-feeding of information from book one. The action starts on page one of this urban fantasy, and Smith swiftly gets her readers involved in the plot. Devani is a well-developed character, strong, self-reliant and caring. Roman is a good match for her, and the romance between the two is well-developed and does not overwhelm the story. I enjoyed "A Touch of Silver" and recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy and paranormal stories. It would also be a great introduction to fantasy books for those who prefer the thriller and suspense genres. It is well-written and a lot of fun. I'll be looking for the other books in Smith's Legacy series.
I'd been waiting for the sequel to Legacy and I was not disappointed! This is Smith's best work yet. I really loved Touch of Silver and I recommend it to anyone looking for a new view of the world of vampires. Great job!
4.5 Stars Devani Daniels has just left her soul mate, in order to save his life. However the Militia is still after her and now they are threatening her family. Roman is a Sanguine lost without his love and determined to figure out why she left. Once Roman discovers his pain was caused by the Militia, he is determined to reconnect with Devani, even if it means a full blown war. Little do they know, just how many lives will be affected by their love. Touch of Silver picks up a few months after the end of Legacy. Readers’ hearts will ache as Devani and Roman fight for the right to live as a couple in peace. Melissa R. Smith fills this book with raw human emotions that will bring readers to tears at times. The main characters provide a modern twist to the classic tale of a perilous love. There were a few minor grammatical errors, but they did not distract from the storyline. Even with a satisfying ending, readers will still be left wanting more. Paranormal romance fans need to take note, Melissa R. Smith is an author to add to the Must-Read list. Notes: A copy of this book was provided by the author for me to review. This review was originally posted on Ariesgrl Book Reviews.
I began reading Touch of Silver and around chapter 3, I stopped because I decided to read part one, Legacy. Not because Ms. Smith didn't explain everything in part two, but because it sounded so interesting I had to check it out. I loved Legacy (will review it later) and it drew me into the characters that continued in Touch of Silver. Devani Daniels finds herself in a pickle in part two. She gave up Roman, thinking it would get her life back to normal, but it didn't. London just won't leave her alone. But I was hopeful that Devani and Roman would see one another again and I wasn't disappointed. Not to give away spoilers, but Ms. Smith wrapped up this story in a satisfying way and even though there is a lot of mystery and turmoil that you go through, in the end, you'll be glad you took the journey. This is the first paranormal series I've read because I was turned off by the violence and sexual content of other vampire novels (adult, not YA), so I found it refreshing for the story to play out and not by all about sex. What sex is there is tasteful and sensual. I say this is a great series and I highly recommend it. Great job!
