Overview

When Seattle Seahawks Running Back Shaun Alexander's Touchdown Alexander was released last year in hardcover, it shot up the bestseller lists. And now, the release of the trade paperback features an all-new final chapter covering the 2006 football season.

In his page-turning story, written with award-winning author Cecil Murphey, Shaun recounts the years that led up to his success on and off the football field, and how God first gave him the dream for the achievements that have made him a household name among football fans everywhere.

And yet, Shaun's life is about more than football. His nonprofit organization, the Shaun Alexander Foundation, focuses on empowering and improving the lives of fatherless young men through education, athletics, character programs, and leadership training, inspiring them to reach their potential as mentors and role models for future generations.

I decided to tell my story for several reasons:

  • I want to show people--especially young people--that success is closer than they may think.
  • God is the key to success.
  • We need to set goals--the higher the better. If we think big and believe big, we'll act big and move in big ways.
  • Life is to enjoy--to have fun and laugh a lot. If we're not enjoying our life, something isn't right..

Shaun Alexander

    Touchdown Alexander

The book Touchdown Alexander is a very good book. It has many ups and downs in the book also. When he was just a little boy his parents got a divorce and he had to move from his home town and try and fit in to where he moved too. This book also talks about his faith and how he gets through his days when he went to school. He had many brothers and sisters that helped him through all his hard times as a kid. When he got to high school he became a member of his church and started working with the youth groups. He had a big senior year at his high school and got drafted by the University of Alabama. He spent all four years there as a running back and he broke many records. Then he went into the NFL draft and got drafted by the Seattle Seahawks and that¿s where he remains playing. He does many charity drives and raises money for the area of Seattle. He also goes to the community church and helps out by doing many things by the church.

A Moving Story of Obediance to God

Written with well-known author, Cecil Murphy, ¿Touchdown Alexander¿ is a moving story about trusting God and living in true obedience. No one can argue that Shaun Alexander is a great football player. But in the telling of his story, Shaun shows us that life doesn¿t need to revolve around career. He is a child of God first, a husband and father second, and the MVP for the Seattle Seahawks third. If your young men are looking for a God-honoring role model in NFL football, this would be a good place to start.
