Overview

The media has nicknames for Marnie Baranuik, though she'd rather they didn't; twice-Touched by the Blue Sense, a rare dual-talented psychic with a doctorate in preternatural biology and a working knowledge of the dark arts, she was considered without peer in the psychic community.
Her first big FBI case ended with a bullet in one shoulder and a chip on the other, a queasy heart and a serial killer in the wind, leaving her a public flop and a private wreck. When the FBI's preternatural crimes unit tracks her down at her remote mountain lodge in Ten Springs, Colorado for her insight on a local case, she isn't particularly eager to stick her neck out again, but her quiet retirement is promptly besieged by a stab-happy starlet, a rampaging ghoul, and a vampire hunting jackass in tight Wranglers. Marnie figures the only real mystery is which one will kill her first.
Too mean to die young, backed up by friends in cold places, and running with a mouth as demure as a cannon's blast, Marnie Baranuik is about to discover that there's no such thing as quitting time when you're Touched.

I’m so excited about Touched because finally an author pulled off a mystery/suspense novel in the correct way. I do not want to read a book where I know what’s going to happen 100 pages before it does. I want to be given clues, but I hate when it’s spelled out for me. I found that in this book. Sure, there were still a few things I was able to guess early on. There were times I thought I knew what was going to happen, only to be thrown for a loop. There were yet other times when I was completely blindsided by plot twists. I enjoyed every second of it.

    YES!

Loved Marnie and her awesome sarcasm. Never able to keep out of trouble, but always with a great comeback. My kind of girl. Kept me reading late into the night!

This book hooked me immediately.  The word-play is terrific and cracked me up, often unexpectedly.  I adore Marnie and her "people skill".  Actually, I really liked all the characters.  The action was fast-paced, the story line well plotted, the dialogue amazing.  The romance?  Awkward, funny, sexy, complicated - fun!  I was so impressed with this book, halfway through I ordered everything else in this series!

I read a lot of books, and it's been a long time since one kept me this interested and made me laugh out loud.  The story is a  wonderful blend of horror, mystery, romance, and humor, and this author is first rate.

Interesting take on Revenants or Vampires

I'd have give this five stars had it not contained so much vile language and of course the sex scenes with the trite 'hard bodied, tight assed' hero and MJ's (the heroine) constant talking, thinking, about sex and descriptions of her vibrator and it's use.
Just too much unnecessary sex and extremely gory descriptions of rotting, stinking, slimey bodies exploding over everyone, including in their mouths.

    Ok

I didn't see anything anywhere that said this book is #1 of a series, and the story continues in the second book. I find this out after reading 1100+ pages. I wish B&N and the authors would make this clear on the shopping menu. This genre is unfamiliar to me, and I found myself confused and had to re read several passages to figure out what was going on. I did like the characters, however, the witty banter between them was what kept me plugging through to the end. Or, I should say, to the last page. I felt like there really was NO ending, and hate it when you have to get the next book to finish the story. If this is your style, you will probably really enjoy the books. I will not be buying the next one.
