Meet the Author

Depuis septembre 1990, Gil Fronsdal est l’enseignant principal du Centre de Méditation Vipassana (Insight Meditation Center), situé au sud de San Francisco. Il a reçu une formation dans la tradition japonaise Soto Zen et en méditation Vipassana, dans diverses lignées de la du Bouddhisme Theravadin du sud-est de l’Asie. En 1982 il a été ordonné prêtre Soto Zen au Centre Zen de San Francisco. En 1995 il a reçu la transmission du Dharma de Mel Weitsman, l’abbé du Centre Zen de Berkeley. Dans le milieu des années quatre-vingt, il a pratiqué au Japon, en Thaïlande et en Birmanie. Gil a poursuivi sa formation d’enseignant Vipassana sous la direction de Jack Kornfield et fait part du collectif d’enseignants Vipassana du Centre de Méditation de Spirit Rock. Gil a reçu un doctorat d’études bouddhistes de l’université de Stanford en 1998. Cette même année, sa femme a donné naissance à leur fils.
