Editorial Reviews

— Joseph M. Marshall, III
The writers and poets who have contributed to the TCJ Student Edition
offer insights into coping with and living in the contemporary world as
who and what they are. They offer glimpses into their experiences, and
of their individual and cultural connection to the past. They continue to
define Native literature.
Chris Eyre
It is with grace and honor that we present our own stories to manifest the
destiny of our dreams and scribe on keyboards and occasionally on
paper, so the world may catch up… Check ‘em out!!!
Elizabeth Cook-Lynn
These works signal the future for all of us. It means that self-knowledge
and cultural revitalization are possible in a flawed world of relentless
struggle.
Joy Harjo
Enjoy. And be inspired to tell your own stories, write, and sing your own
poetry. This is how we continue.
Sherman Alexie
Something quietly revolutionary has happened. Thousands
of young Indians are writing, and they are writing well. I was only the
second generation in my family to regularly put pen to paper.
Authorship was as foreign to me as being an astronaut. But for these
students, writing is as ordinary as breathing and/or drumming.
