Children's LiteratureNo doubt most kids have seen a tow truck and in particular the newer flatbed trucks. They can be used for vehicles that are either too damaged to be towed by a conventional tow truck or for special jobs. In this sturdy board book, Leo has a very busy day with his flatbed tow truck. He hauls a car away that has been damaged when it hit a guide rail along the road. The good news is that the driver seems unhurt and is on a cell phone calling someone. Leo also hauls an antique fire truck to a parade and removes an airplane that had to land on a roadway (I would hope that kids do not think that is a common occurrence.) The art looks computer generated and the big attraction is not the story but the Matchbox flatbed tow truck that comes with the book. The toy can be cut from the back jacket to preserve the board book, but it probably will not have as much appeal as the toy. 2003, Little Simon/Simon & Schuster, Ages 2 to 5.
