Editorial Reviews

Booknews
In this reference, Burrows (toxicology) and Tyrl (botany), both of Oklahoma State University, discuss both wild and planted toxic plants found on the North American continent north of the Tropic of Cancer. Information includes plant morphology and distribution, associated disease problems, toxicants and their mechanisms of action, clinical signs and pathologic changes of intoxications, and treatment approaches. Key words, illustrations, and distribution maps serve as quick references and guides to more complete reviews of relevant information. Each chapter covers the toxic taxa of one family and is presented in a two-column format in which one column details textual information on taxonomy and morphology, distribution and habitat, disease problems and genesis, clinical signs, pathology, and treatment. The other offers the key words, common names, b&w line drawings and distribution maps, and chemical structures. The volume also contains a section of color plates. Annotation c.
