For over a year, the photographer and journalist Gabriele Galimberti visited more than 50 countries and created colorful images of boys and girls in their homes and neighborhoods with their most prized possessions: their toys. From Texas to India, Malawi to China, Iceland, Morocco, and Fiji, Galimberti recorded the spontaneous and natural joy that unites kids despite their diverse backgrounds. Whether the child owns a veritable fleet of miniature cars or a single stuffed monkey, the pride that Galimberti captures is moving, funny, and thought provoking.

I really love this book and I would have given it 5 stars, but I read about it online before buying it and the article I read had a lot more information about the kids/pictures than the book itself. The book only gives the child's name, age and country, but the article I read had a little paragraph about each kid. For example, the girl in Zambia that had all the sunglasses actually found them in a box that fell off a truck, and the boy in the Ukraine with all the toy guns wants to be a police officer, the girl in Botswana that only has the stuffed monkey actually prefers to just play outside with her friends rather than with toys. I found these little tidbits in the online article interesting and wish they would have been included in the book. Even so, the pictures tell a lot and I'm very glad I bought this book.
