I bought this for my 2 year old twins because I was planning on making them a felt board. Thought this would be a good introduction which it is. It says recommended for ages 3 and up, but there is nothing about a felt board that can't be used by younger children--except small parts. So,we have used it only with the larger pieces. I like that it is easy to clean up and portable. The only suggestions that I have would be to add some brighter colors, but that is personal preference. I would also recommend that there is an option to purchase an extra board without shapes. This would be good so kids and their friends could use the pieces together--there are enough for a second board, plus we are planning on making some of our own including letters. The board can potentially be crushed if stepped on so be careful with younger kids who leave their toys around. If it was made of a heavier material, it would make it too heavy to be portable. I am a picky person, so 4 stars is an excellent recommendation from me.

The colors and shapes looked promising. Very bright and a good size. Unfortunately the shapes would not stick to the board. They'd move with the slightest touch, and this destroyed the play value of the toy.
