Toys in the Attic is a testament to the survival strengths of the human nature. Even though Sara endured a horrible childhood, and it seemed as if her nightmares would be never ending, David uses his story telling abilities to pull her through. A story worth reading.

Sara's character is beyond strong, after losing her mother, she endures both mental and physical abuse from her father, but when she hits her breaking point, she kills him. But her pain isn't over yet, she learns she is now pregnant with her fathers child. Will Sara be strong enough to overcome the pain she has encountered and be able to love her child, or will she give up on life it's self?
This is a very captivating story, it grabs you up and makes you wish you could save Sara. The abuse she goes through is painful and heart wrenching.

I downloaded this on the suggestion of another author I love (Lizzy Ford). It is absolutely nothing like her books (or at least the ones I've read) which is fine. I thought the whole story was good and enjoyed it even when I was uncomfortable with some of the material. I think that was the point though, to make you uncomfortable. I don't think I would classify it as a "light" read, but it isn't too long and the story flows so I would definitely recommend it!
