    Like a Lullaby

A nice supplement for my grandson after our family trip to Maine this summer. He loves trains. This story has a soothing rhythm and wonderful illustrations.

This book, with it's whimsical illstrations and rythmical text holds the attention of the reader from beginning to end. Feelings of anticpation and joy are expressed vividly in the illustrations throughout the book. The rhyming text makes the adventure come alive and, along with the cooresponding illustrations, activates the imagination of the reader. As a hospital administrator I was looking for a children's book to be to be autioned off at our 'Benefit for the Kids' event in August. I have chosen 'The Train to Maine'

A book that makes children excited about summer vacation!

This book builds a sense of anticipation about summer vacations and all the wonderful things that children and their families look forward to. The illustrations are colorful and have so many different details in each illustration that it's fun to read again and again.

    Perfect for language elicitation

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I am always trying to find books that can be used for therapy for emerging language skills. In The Train to Maine, Jamie Spencer writes a charming story with rhyming and repetitive text while Rebecca Harrison Reed makes the story come alive with her gorgeous illustrations: the characters and themes are depicted with a warmth and illumination that stimulate the imaginations of the children I work with. Thank you for a valuable tool in my therapy arsenal!

My boys absolutely loved this book. The illustrations really caught their eyes. They pointed out many things that I didn't even notice at first glance. Rebecca Harrison Reed and Jaime Spencer are highly talented! Although the boys have not personally taken the Downeaster, they have been on a train and related well to the book.
