Overview

If you like your alt country a bit heavy on the alternative side, with light classic rock touches, then look no further than Train's debut disc. Fronted impressively by vocalist/songwriter Patrick Monahan and supported by strong, guitar-driven pop melodies, this is easy listening rock with crafty edges and unforgettable tunes. "Eggplant," "I Am," "Free," and "Meet Virginia" crackle with inspired hooks and reflective lyrics. Train's music is direct and basic. All around, Train is a total package of good music with smart songcraft.

The first song I listened to on the radio in The US of A, after spending five years over seas, was ''Meet Virginia''. It was a wonderful song that grabbed my attention. I automatically went to the nearest music shop, and grabbed Train¿s CD. Afterwards my dad listened to it, and he liked it. This CD is great for everyone. No matter where I go, I listen to this CD. From Oklahoma to California, or form my house to the super market. This is a good CD to listen to while traveling, because it has songs with relaxing riffs to songs with fast up beats, which can be good for fast or slow driving.

An awsome CD. Don't miss the last two tracks, train and heavy.

I was a bit unsure about what I would be getting with this CD, but I am completely impressed now. ''Free'', ''Eggplant'', and ''I Am'' are utterly mesmorizing. The vocals are surprising and lyrics strong - I can't wait to get their next album!

I have got to say that Train is one of the best bands I've heard in years. Meet Virginia is a great song, but this CD is much more than that. I Am and Homesick are two exceptional songs with a great acoustical sound. This is one of the rare CD's where every song is a good one. The first five songs on this CD are absolutely awesome!!!

I love music and rarely do I come across such a great band that is so new...if you like good music you'll love this!

While musical talent is so often overlooked in the mainstream of the present day mad cd selloff of boy bands and candy pop girls, Train manages to reach back into the purity of song and produce an honest effort that could not be rated high enough. Unfortunately, the band can take one of two roads; they can either quit while they are ahead of the talent consuming commercial juggernaut of fame, or they can take the path of the sold out Dave Matthews Band and play their riffs in front of zombie crowds with their middle finger raised.

This band has wonderful magic. Very lofty ballads with a touch of eccentricity.
