    Spirituality -- The Missing Link

I have read countless leadership and self-help books but Jon Gordon has the rare courage to speak the truth: No one can maximize their potential without honoring the One gave them their abilities. In Training Camp there is the plot about making the team. But that is not the real story. The real story is that the main character discovers that "he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him." Jon does not put it in such explicit "Christianese" but it is there. A better man makes a better player makes a better husband etc. Thanks Jon!

    Two Thumbs Up!

This book was recommended by a friend and co-worker - Todd Gothberg. To be very honest, I would not have read the book without his guidance. Having said that....I am very thankful and grateful.

Training Camp is an excellent book to provide both for "teachers" and "students", "coaches" and "players", etc. I envision this book to better assist mentoring young professionals within are own company! If you have an open-mind and the will to continue learning and bettering yourself - then buy the book. It is worth it. You are worth it. Good luck!

Great book on becoming your best!

The story is simple and straightforward about the rookie wanting to make the NFL team. Underneath the simple story, however, are a series of concise, easy to understand, easy to remember, and easy to implement lessons about becoming your best. There are many books about companies and organizations (In Search of Excellence, Good to Great, etc.) that offer insights on what makes some companies excellent. Training Camp is about what makes individuals great.

This book also has a solid message about ethics/morals in becoming your pesonal best. A great contrast to the Ken Lay/Bernie Maddof culture of false riches, no ethics and the inevitable conclusion. Training Camp's last 3 points sum up why the message is different and superior to other "self-help" books that focus only on selfish rewards and satisfaction. I can identify these 3 traits in all the best and most admired leaders throughout history. I am working to enact them in my life.

Being Your Best = Bringing Out the Best in Others

I've been a fan of Jon Gordon's work for a long time. I started out as a subscriber to his weekly email newsletters after hearing him speak at an event. Having also read and fully enjoyed Jon's other books, "The Energy Bus" and "The No Complaining Rule," I was excited about the release of "Training Camp." When I received my first copy (I've bought a few for friends now) I opened it up to scan the pages and immediately found myself drawn in. I couldn't put it down. A few hours later I had finished the book! So thankful that I did. The lesson's Jon shares have really had an impact on the way I look at a lot of things. Not only in my work life but in my family life as well. One key lesson this book helped me reinforce is that to be my best I need to help bring out the best in others. Sounds simple, maybe, but the way Jon shared it, along with the other 11 Traits, just made a lot of sense. It brough the concept to life I guess. I'll end with this... Regardless of your position or what you do, I think this book will help you and help others around you. It has for me.

    An amazing story

This book has changed my life. I play on a very competitive soccer team, and this book has developed my leadership skills even further. Gordon brings life lessons and a great story together. I strongly recommend this.

    Reinforcement

Sometimes you just need some reinforcement, or reminders, of how to excel, work hard and strive for greatness. This fits the bill. A very simple story that drives home a great message.

    Go to Training Camp

Especially for those with a background or interest in athletics, this fable holds your attention and reminds you of many of the life lessons we learned in sports. Jon adds very valuable insights in masterfully constructing this story. This book is about winning in life.

I'm a senior leader in a major corporation today. I'll be sending my entire leadership team through Training Camp.

This is my first Jon Gordon read. I look forward to the others. Thank you Jon for a valuable piece of work.

    I Also Recommend:

This is a MUST BUY BOOK - Jon Gordon delivers yet another COMPELLING message in "Training Camp"!

If you just read the words of this book, it is about a guy trying to make it in the NFL - for me the sports analogy itself is engaging. However, open your mind and your heart to really HEAR what this book is SAYING. This book resonated with me and my life in a way I can't hardly put into words but I must say that Jon Gordon has had that impact on me since I first saw him speak LIVE in January 2009. I have read all of his books and each one speaks to me in its own way but "Training Camp" is the book that has the impact to make you realize that it is all about BEING YOUR BEST IN EVERY DAY LIFE. I bought this book for my entire work team as well as several of my family and friends - I have shared so much of what Jon Gordon has taught me with his words in 2009 with work colleagues, my family, my friends as well as people I meet in every day life. Anyone will enjoy the message that Jon delivers in this book if you OPEN your HEART and MIND to hearing how being the BEST is truly what MATTERS MOST.

Take a look at Jon Gordon's website for many motivational "tools" which he offers; also see when Jon is speaking in a town near you...trust me, he is worth the time & money!! I've been in sales my whole life and seen a ton of different motivational type speakers but Jon is HANDS DOWN the BEST MOTIVATIONAL type speaker I've ever heard. God definitely put Jon Gordon on this earth to share his messages with the world - so THANK YOU JON for continuing to give your gift to all of us!! www.jongordon.com

    Very satisfied with it

This is the first i read from Jon, and I'm really looking forward to read the rest of his books, on the other hand the story is an accurate example that everyone could apply for our lives and take a lot good from the conclusion that we make after comparing the story from the book and the story we have lived.

I highly recommend this book to everyone!

    Training Camp

This is a very thought provoking book that could be interesting to the "jocks". I appreciate the fact that as the story progresses, exposure to the fact that God is active in everything we do and plays a vital role in our lives.

Additionally, the fact that we must slow down to understand our impacts in work, family, friends, and etc. on how we leave our mark on earth through our legacy. This book goes full circle and plants the seed of how each of us will take our spiritual learnings and "pay forward" with our Legacy.

This was the first book I have read of Jon Gordon's and look forward to reading more of his work.

A Truly Inspirational & Motivational Book - I Highly Recommend Reading

Jon Gordon, the author of "Training Camp, What The Best Do Better Than Everyone Else" has an amazing gift of taking an incredibly real and relevant message and delivering that message through an intriguing story. It makes for a great read. Training Camp will make you think, evaluate and hopefully change your life! I have read many motivational and/or inspirational books along these lines but none were as compelling as Training Camp. I highly recommended it.

    Life-Changing

I loved this book....it is only incidentally about a rookie's struggles to make the cut at an NFL training camp. On a much deeper level, it is the realization that life is not about achieving success but of seeking lasting significance - once again, Jon delivers a message which will have a life-changing impact on those who read it. Of his three books, this is his best - and "The Energy Bus" & "The No Complaining Rule" are phenomenal reads. I have three daughters (18, 15, 9) who have all read this book. The book (and it's message) is a true blessing. Thanks Jon!
