Trance Plant: Session 3

Editorial Reviews

For deliverance from confusion, look no further than the lineup: Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Timo Maas, Gabriel & Dresden -- yes, this is an exercise in standard-issue trance music, and though a whiff of the lounge may waft over the dancefloor from time to time during the program, the marijuana leaves are a red herring -- there's really not a hint of reggae anywhere. Which is too bad, because it's in the nature of trance compilations to be deadly boring despite their utilitarian danceability, and that's pretty much the case here; a dash of one-drop or dancehall rhythmic variety would have helped a lot to make this disc a more enjoyable listening experience. But if what you want is a solid instrumental dance collection, then you've definitely come to the right place. These tracks are all previously unreleased, which is certainly a plus, and you can always count on Van Buuren and Tiësto to dish up the solid thumping house beats as well as if not better than anyone. Another subtle bonus is the presence of Jon Secada, who turns George Acosta's "Center" into an actual song, and a nice one at that.
