Transition is het 7e studio-solo-album van Toto gitarist Steve Lukather. Op het album staan 9 nummers. Lukather lijkt in een levens beschouwende fase te zitten en dit is een naar eigen zeggen 'zwaar autobiografisch' album, met een flinke dosis melancholisch optimisme. De muziek neigt naar progrock en doet sterk denken aan oude Genesis. Op dit album wordt Lukather bijgestaan door (oud) Toto-leden, Leland Sklar en Nathan East. Verder horen we Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) plaats nemen achter de drums op "Right The Wrong" en is Jeff Beck's Tal Wilkenfeld te horen op de titeltrack.
