Balosky does not claim master quilter statusshe says she "has been quilting off and on since 1964mostly off"and hence this is not a quilting book per se. It is instead a book about creativity and the barriers of fear and self-doubt that make quilting or any other creative endeavor more a struggle than a delight. This offbeat title offers some answers and some suggestions for quiltmakers "struggling with or hovering on the brink of independent work." Balosky includes not only patterns for 27 quilts but also a list of operas she enjoys listening to while quilting.
