Meet the Author

Alan Birkelbach was appointed by the Texas Legislature as the 2005 Poet Laureate of Texas. A widely-published native son of Texas, he has been a Plano resident for over twenty-five years. His work, praised for its vivid sense of place, has appeared in journals as well as poetry anthologies. Other books of poetry include: Bone Song, Weighed in the Balances, No Boundaries, and New and Selected Works.

Art includes photographs of permanent public art installations, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, digital manipulation, and mixed media. Contributing artists are Mirtha Aertker, Teresa Camozzi, Chat Doty, Bart Forbes, Ansley Grizzle, Nathan Kwan, David Lerry, Vincent Li, Theresa Lii, Jacie Moore, Radhika Ramki, C. Marie Renfro, Alan Reynolds, Kristin Sheehy, Julio Suarez, Karen White, Janell Wimberly, Vivian Wu, and Emily Xue. All artists live, study, or work in Plano (with the exception of public artist Teresa Camozzi).
