Transparent

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
Teen sibling duo Phillip and Natalie LaRue are growing up, as the self-penned songs assembled on Transparent make clear. The follow-up to their self-titled 1999 debut, Transparent showcases a lyrical and melodic maturity that belies the duo's tender years (Phillip is just 19, Natalie 17). Producers Rick Elias and Ken Mary have steeped LaRue's harmonic pop with a welcome alt-rock edge that was absent from the first album. The songs offer a candid look at the siblings' lives. Relationships are a recurring theme here, be they with God, family, friends, or of the romantic variety, and it's nice to see this much range on a Christian record. "Jaded" offers a spiritual take on a break-up, while "I Can't Sing" confesses a less philosophical response to the same situation. Such vulnerability seems likely to find empathy among both teens and adults.
All Music Guide - Ashleigh Kittle
Brother and sister duo Phillip and Natalie LaRue's sophomore release, Transparent, features subtle rock-influenced sounds that combine Christian alternative with adult contemporary. The release features 11 tracks, all penned by the siblings. Vocally, Phillip LaRue resembles Kevin Max of dc Talk, with hints of Delirious?' Martin Smith. Natalie LaRue's voice is reminiscent of Sixpence None the Richer's Leigh Nash. Notable songs include "Jaded" and "Theory of Flight."

How could you not love them?!

They just have a simplicity to the way they share the love of God through their music. It is exciting to listen to and easy to love. I fully recommend any of LaRue's CD's!
