Wow! I am so impressed with this book. And let me start off by saying that I have not read the first book in this series, Vanished, and had absolutely no problem at all following this story. The author did a great job of writing an extremely suspenseful story, full of interesting characters. I loved the dynamic between Dev and Laura, as they fought the attraction they were feeling toward each other. Dev is the Private Investigator that Laura has hired to find her runaway half-sister, Darcy. I appreciated the author’s ability to make me understand, through hearing Darcy’s thoughts throughout her portions of the story, what her motivation had been to run away from home. I was able to feel empathy toward Dev, Laura and Darcy in the various situations they faced. And might I add that the author did a great job of creating a well-developed villain. At one point I turned to my husband and said, “Uh oh…this guy’s about to show us his ‘crazy’.” She crafted a truly messed up human being with all kinds of issues. This story kept me turning the page, wanting more till the very end. I now look forward to going back and reading the first book in the series, as well as this author’s other books. Trapped was the first book that I have read by Irene Hannon and it will not be the last! I received a complimentary copy of Trapped from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, which I have given.

Iren Hannon has done a good job with the romantic suspense genre. I found the plot line well constructed and the characters believable. Enjoyed reading it.

This is the first novel that I've read by Irene Hannon and honestly, I received this book a long time ago. Somehow it just fell through the cracks in my TBR list. All in all, it was a great novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely pick up another novel by her ... if my huge issue with this book is resolved!! More on that a bit later ... Now, this is the second book in a series and while I usually don't start a series in the middle because you never know if there is pertinent information that you might have missed by not reading the prior books, I'm glad that I didn't shy away from it. I don't think that I missed anything pertaining to this story by not reading the previous novel. It really could be a stand alone, I believe. So if you're interested in this one and you haven't read the first one, go ahead. It's good and you won't be disappointed. I really enjoyed the character development. I was able to get to know Laura and Dev quite easily and become attached to them really fast. The way that Hannon wrote Laura, I really felt for her in her current situation. I was able to kind of coast along on her emotional roller-coaster as if she was a friend of mine. Same with Dev. I loved both of these main characters and I enjoyed all of the secondary characters as well. There was a real sense of fulfillment when I finished this novel. I didn't have any questions unanswered or sense anything was left unfinished. Like I said, all in all, it was a great novel. But. BUUUUUT. As my grandfather would say, this really chapped my ass. The copy I received did not say that it was an ARC. If you aren't familiar with the term ARC, it means Advanced Reader Copy ... basically it means that there will be some editing issues, either grammar or otherwise, within the novel but that the publishing house wanted to get these complimentary copies out as quickly as possible to get reviews all set up before the novel actually drops. Anyway, reading an ARC doesn't bother me - I know that I'm in store for some editing issues and I'm okay with that. But when this novel didn't say that it was an ARC and EVERY SINGLE word that has "ff" or "ffi" missing ... this is a problem. A big problem. Because it pulls you away from the story every time you have to decipher what these words are: oense, oce, o-limits, o, puy, muns, oers, o-the-cu. In case you couldn't figure it out, those words are offense, office, off-limits, off, puffy, muffins, offers, off-the-cuff ... and that was just a few!! It was all over the book and on every single freaking page. To be honest, I wanted to give the book even lower ratings because of this but I just couldn't because the story line was so great. I'm betting that there are some people who just wouldn't read the damn thing after the 785th spelling issue. I don't know what donkey messed up and had all of the ff's and ffi's deleted but I would really like to poke them in the eye. Now that I'm done with my long rant, this was really a good book. I'm hoping that the above F-issue was resolved for final e-book copy that is everywhere. Because if it isn't, I'm grabbing a torch and I'm going to storm the publishing company castle.

This is the first book that I have read in Irene Hannon's new Private Justice series. I thought the story was very well written and the characters were very well developed. There were a couple predictable parts in the story that I new were going to happen to happen but for the most part the story kept me on the edge of my seat. I kept on wanting to know what aaas going to happen. Irene did a great job of allowing you to see the feelings of four different characters through the story which to me was unusual and I had never seen before. The only problem that it caused is that it kind of took away from the story that she may have been trying to tell. As a reader I was unsure if she was trying to tell the story of Laura and Darcy or Laura and Devlin. I think she did a good job of describing the relationships between both character groups but the story didn't focus on just one. Lastly, I think that the book had just the write amount of religion involved. It didn't feel like it took over the story but you knew that it was mentioned. She did a great job of including it where most people in real life would think about God and look to their faith. I think that overall this was a great book and I am very interested in reading the first book in this series and the next one that comes out. Irene has a nitch for writing romance, faith, friendship and mystery all into one book. This is a rarity to find and I am excited to see what else she can write.

Trapped is the second book in the Private Justice series featuring Pheonix Investigations. This is Devin’s story. He is a former ATF agent who is till trying to recover from his last undercover mission. Trapped deals with teen runaways and is realistic in the issues they face. Hannon provides information and statistic within the story that are very sobering. .. This book is one of the exciting mysteries by this author. It is one that holds your interest and you want to keep reading it to see what happens next. I like the settings in Missouri because it is a familiar area to me.

As usual Irene Hannon has created a great suspense novel.

The first case went fast and was very interesting but the second case was too many phrases repeated and a lot of uninteresting plot. I flipped pages and read a couple of sentences until the end.

Trapped...trapped in a horrific nightmare! And the worst part of it is, it happens and could happen right in our neighborhood, and we would never know, or our colleague could be involved and yet be the nicest co-worker. I think that is what grabbed my imagination, my heart. This book is not for the faint-hearted, and yet I think teenagers need to realize that they are not invincible. And yet, was I any different? Surely I would have denied the fact that I could be at risk. There are only a few suspense writers who claim a spot on my personal bookshelves, and few that can claim to keeping me awake at night, long after I have finished reading the novel.  Once again, Irene has used her unique talent and delved to the heart of the matter in a realistic and graphic method. Without giving away anything of the story let me tell you that I could not get comfortable while I read, nor could I leave the characters in their various predicaments until the end. The images and story line has been burnt into my conscience and will color my perceptions of life in general from here on in. As I was reading it, I was well aware that this is only fiction, and yet it felt so real, that at times I held my breath and agonized with the characters. Good Romantic Suspense This book has all the elements to develop an enjoyable read, like: serial killer, runaway teen, desperate sister, and ex-ATF investigator. Hannnon combines them to create an enjoyable, fun, clean read that will keep you reading into the wee hours. Some of Hannon’s romantic encounters seem a little trite and perhaps a little too sweet, but over all, the book is a pleasurable read. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys clean romantic suspense.

Irene Hannon is one of my favorite authors - she has the perfect blend of suspense, inspiration/faith, and wonderful characters that make her books great "page-turners." As with her other series, I am loving the Private Justice series, and can't wait for the next one to be released. Always a clean, enjoyable read from Irene Hannon - just some sleep loss when reading her books, because they are so hard to put down. Trapped is another masterpiece - once you get to page 100 or so in the e-book, be prepared to really get caught up in the action, because it starts moving so fast, you won't be able to leave the book!

Oh my word. Trapped! Three words: I loved it! I fell in love with Irene Hannon's romantic suspense novels a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since. While I go into her books knowing (1) who is going to fall in love and (2) that everything is going to turn out okay, I'm always curious as to how she's going to get me to that wonderful "happily ever after." And what a journey Trapped was! I was hooked on Dev from the very beginning. He was so intriguing with a mysterious tragedy in his past and a "good guy" vibe. His work ethic combined with his determination to follow the "house rules" despite his interest in Laura were admirable traits. And of course his gentlemanly behavior was a plus as well. Laura was a sweet girl and I loved that there were more layers to her than we saw at first meeting. She had plenty of gumption and I admired her strong will and determination to find Darcy. I loved reading about two strong characters that were determined not to let situations in their past hold them back, which is a change from many of the books out there where at least one of the characters has major struggles to overcome. I will admit that the suspense started off a little slow. Somehow, though, Hannon wrote in such a way that I was hooked in spite of that. I just had to keep reading. About halfway through, the suspense really picked up and it was a fast-paced ride from there! All in all, this was a great book. The hero was charming. The mystery was interesting. The bad guy was suitably creepy. The plot gained momentum as it went. And the romance was so sweet. I'm happy to recommend this book! [5 stars] I received a free copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Irene Hannon in her new book “Trapped” Book Two in the Private Justice series published by Revell Books takes us into the lives of Laura Griffith and James Devlin From the back cover:  A runaway teen, a desperate sister, and an intrepid PI determined to discover the truth When Laura Griffith’s sixteen-year-old sister disappears on a frigid February day, leaving only a brief note behind, Laura resolves to do whatever it takes to track down the runaway teen. That includes recruiting ATF agent turned private investigator James Devlin to help. Dev knows time is of the essence with runaways–just forty-eight hours can mean the difference between recovery and ruin. But the deeper he and Laura dig, the more Dev begins to suspect that something sinister is at work in the girl’s disappearance. And in the icy winter weather, the trail is going cold . . . In her latest thrilling read, queen of romantic suspense Irene Hannon outdoes herself with a fast-paced tale of fear, deception, and just the right dose of romance. Whenever I see Irene Hannon’s name on a book I know that I am in for a very exciting read.  And with “Trapped” I think she far outshines in the excitement category.  I think this is Ms. Hannon’s best work so far, she just keeps getting better and better.  As soon as you say search and rescue to me the story takes on a new level of danger.  The search is on to find Laura’s sister and finding her is not going to be easy especially with the storm coming.  All of the characters are so well written you begin to think that you have known them all your life and you certainly want them to succeed.  With “Trapped” Ms. Hannon has given us a thriller that becomes more and more exciting until the last hundred pages which is an extremely wild ride.  All I can say is imagine going on a roller coaster; the beginning of the ride is calm until you get to the top and experience that first drop then it is nothing but twists, turns, upside down loops until the ride ends.  This is what Ms. Hannon does to us as readers with this book. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down.  Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer and knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense.  I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!
