The cross dressing daughter of a dead privateer? The dead man's protegee who never knew his mentor had a daughter? I'll admit it sounded like things I'd seen before, but Bell uses her skill as a storyteller and creator of quickly fleshed out characters to make it all fresh and interesting. Mysterious references to "shifting" and a wickedly placed "To Be Continued" make this story and its sequel very worth the read.
And, oh yeah. The sex. Bell has a way of weaving so much story into an act that's so hot that I wasn't sure if I was more turned on by Liam or by the treasure. But, if Brigid doesn't have to choose, neither do I.
