All Music Guide - Brian O'Neill
Trapt, yet another nu-metal entry from southern California, proffers an eponymous major-label debut that is as enthusiastic as it is plagiaristic. There is an organic feel to the disc that separates it from their more angst-ridden peers, specifically those who rely on electronic gadgetry over a simple guitar-bass-drums setup, though the congenial feel fits in alongside Incubus, especially with a propensity toward pensive moments that evoke a softer image than most, one that would fit into emo if the band wasn't so obviously aesthetically a rock band; "These Walls" actually sounds like Nickelback at its most adult rock-radio-friendly, for example. Trapt isn't original, per se, as much as it does a good job melding its pronounced influences more seamlessly than most; the band would get a better recommendation if the record had songs that stood out a bit more.

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

I had heard the song "Headstrong" and loved it so much that I got the CD. Oh! I was not disappointed at all! The music has an alternative, rock song to it and the singing is awesome! If you have heard "Headstrong" and like it, like rock music, or have an open-mind to music in general, then listen to the samples and if you like what you hear: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU BUY THIS CD CUZ YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!! (I sure wasn't.)

    Great band for a beginner!

I love this CD, but I wouldn't say it's the best one out there. I love the lead singer's voice, and its alternative tune. The sound is not too hard nor is it too poppish. The song, "Echo" in my opinion, is one of the best songs in the album.

    Yup

This album isn't perfect but very little freshmen albums are. Trapt is one of the best Rock-Metal bands out there today. As I read these reviews I notice that Headstrong and Echo are mentioned allot, but nobody says anything about the two best songs on the album. These songs... drumroll please... These Walls and Stories! There you have it... buy this CD it is worth it. I can't wait to get my hands on a new album by these guys.

    Awesome band with awesome music

I saw Trapt perform live and I must say they rock period. Their CD is very down to earth and is about all serious issues. Their music has a unique driving beat that makes them stand out among the poser bands of the world. They rank up there with Linkin Park.

    the perfect cd

there is nothing you can say about this album that is bad. Headstrong, their 1st sigle is a perfect jam song. Still Frame is a awesome hardcore song for hard rock fans. Echo is a cool love song with a catchy tune. and Enigma is the most magnificent song i've ever heard.

To put the CD into one word: Awesome

Although songs like "Headstrong" and "Still Frame" are popular, the real Trapt is best explained by the rest of the CD. The songs are very well written, with very nice variety. On contrary to what you've heard, they are not your 'typical band'. Give them a chance, they deserve one. I recommend "Made of Glass", "Stories", and "Enigma" more than anything.

These guys are at the top of their genre, second only to Linkin Park!

Next to Linkin Park (of course), Trapt is at the top of the list when it comes to nu-metal and/or hard rock. 3 Days' Grace comes close, but they're just not quite the same. "Headstrong" and "Stillframe" are some of the few songs played on the radio that actually classify as well-made, high-quality, kick-butt songs, and I can count the number of those I've heard (including Headstrong and Stillframe) on one hand. I admit they do sound vaguely similiar to certain other bands (such as Linkin Park, 3 Days' Grace, Nickelback, etc.), but to true connoisseurs of the genre, the differences between them are more varied and glaringly obvious than those between a rainforest and a nuclear wasteland.

What band are they trying to be like?

I feel that yes, Trapt is unoriginal in its style and sound, but that is not the main fault with the CD. They keep playing to different genres, with hard rock songs similar to (but not at the quality of) nickelback and hoobastank, alteranative songs (like Incubus), and even some soft rock songs whose lyrics sounds reminiscent of Vertical Horizon's hits. I believe that they could be a good band if they focused on one style, which would also encourage people to buy the entire CD instead of burning the few songs on the CD that fit their music preferance. For now, we'll have to wait and see...

    Trapt Rocks!!!

Trapt is an awesome band! The people who think they are unoriginal are wrong. Nickelback and Trapt sound nothing alike. I cannot wait until their next CD comes out in a few months or however long it takes!

    This is a life-changing album!

This album is absoloutly amazing.. anyone who says it's unoriginal or more of the same must be half-deaf.. the lyrics are extremely emotional and strong, yet speak of situations and feeling everyone can relate to. The music is wonderful as well, sure its not some "crazy new sound" but it is a perfect blend of a sound that has been proven to work and enough originality to make it similar but so much better than the "generic" sound people talk about.. anyone who doesn't like this album is crazy! Definantly buy this now!! I gaurantee you won't be disappointed!!!

MY GOD! I CAN'T WATE TILL THEY COME OUT WITH ANOTHER ALBUM

TRAPT'S CD IS SO REAL! IT DOESN'T ALWAYS TALK ABOUT DEATH AND SORROW LIKE MOST OTHER CDS DO (DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LUV GODSMACK AND EVANESCENCE). ITS FRESH, SOMETHING NEW. THEY SING FROM THE HEART AND THAT'S WHAT MUSICIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO. THIS CD GOT ME THROUGH A LOT OF THOUGH TIMES AND ITS LIKE THE ONLY THING I LISTEN TO NOW. I DEFINITLY THINK THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BUY IT. ITS JUST A WONDERFUL CD AND THERE'S NOTHING MORE TO SAY.

    Trapt Rules!

I just got this CD today after hearing "Headstrong" used as a theme for one of the WWE Pay-Per-Views. I instantly fell in love with it and I have listened to the whole thing in one sitting. If you like lyrics you can regard to, this is definetly the band.

A great album that sounds more original that most things out there right now, in any genre

When I first heard Trapt's first single, Headstrong, I figured that it would be nothing more than a Chevelle or Used knockoff. Just one more un-outstanding band in a sea of not great bands. However the more I listened to this song, the more intrigued I became. Eventually, I went out and purchased the album. After listening to Headstrong, I perused the remainder of the album, and found music that is good, SLIGHTLY un-original, but this album comes together seamlessly. I don't think that Trapt sounds like any particular band, but a blend of the best elements of several, Incubus included. Headstrong is an adrenaline laced, fast paced hard song. But many other songs, notably Made of Glass and Hollowman are somewhat softer, but nonetheless good. Also, Stories, an acoustic song, is probably the best song on the album in my opinion. This album has it all, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good music.
