Overview

The Traveling America Book is a book of songs, games, p[puzzles, pictures to color, past presidents and general information about the United States. Chapter One

    Uncle Sam's Favorite Songs

    AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

    Oh beautiful for spacious skies,
    for amber waves of grain.

    For purple mountain majesties
    above the fruited plain.

    America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
and crown thy good with brotherhood
    from sea to shining sea.

    Oh beautiful for pilgrim feet
    Whose stern impassioned stress

    A thoroughfare for freedom beat
    Across the wilderness.

    America! America!
    God mend thine ev'ry flaw.
    Confirm thy soul in self-control,
    Thy liberty in law.

    Oh beautiful for heroes proved
    In liberating strife.

Who more than self their country loved,
    And mercy more than life.

    America! America!
    May God thou gold refine
    Till all success be nobleness
    And ev'ry gain, divine.

    Oh beautiful for patriot dream
    That sees beyond the years.

    Thine alabaster cities gleam.
    Undimm'd by human tears.

    America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
    From sea to shining sea.

Uncle Sam's Favorite Songs

THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, o'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

    just to ride the ponies,
I am a Yankee Doodle Boy.
