Libby Gill has quite a story to tell. It's one of courage, strength and, perhaps most of all, hope. However, after having said that, she is not an actress. Her reading lacks the polish of an experienced stage or screen performer. But what it lacks in professional vocal rendering is made up for in the sincerity and urgency unmistakable in her delivery. At times, her voice is a bit tremulous, almost as if relating her past experiences is still painful for her. Further, her reading provides an intimacy, if you will, that might not be found in a performer. Ms. Gill takes her title from a line by Robert Louis Stevenson: 'To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive.' This, it seems, is the crux of her belief. She tells the sad story of her past, years scarred by death, suicide, abuse, and lovelessness. She then recounts how rather than letting a past dictate how a person is today, one can honestly look at the past, leave it behind, and direct a life full of everything one wishes it to be. Certainly, professionally Ms. Gill has proved this to be true as today she is a sought after communication consultant. With a foreword written and read by Dr. Phil many will find comfort, instruction, and hope in Ms. Gill's book. - Gail Cooke
