Overview

(Previously published as Legends of Tsalagee)

If you like Carl Hiaasen's or Dave Barry's mysteries, you'll love this full-length novel from Phil Truman, "the Carl Hiaasen of Oklahoma."

Legends from a small town come in many forms.

Near Tsalagee, Oklahoma a monster lurks and an infamous 19th Century outlaw’s booty lays hidden.

When two renegade bikers ride into town looking to find the Lost Treasure of Belle Starr, local legends Hayward Yost and Socrates Ninekiller suspect the ruffians’ involvement in the murder of a local farmer; a man rumored to have knowledge of the lost treasure’s location...and its curse.

As events unfold, others in the community are drawn into the hunt – a Wiccan who moves to town to pursue her New Age lifestyle; her bumbling, socially inept boyfriend women can’t seem to resist; a young Iraqi War veteran home to heal his physical and emotional wounds; and a mysterious creature known in Native American lore as a forest demon whom they call “Hill Man who screams at night.”

Mystery, romance, comedy, and adventure await in Legends of Tsalagee.

    A great read-check it out

If your looking for a good book to read I think you will enjoy "Legends of Tsalagee" by Phil Truman. A great combination of a treasure hunt (Belle Starr's hiden loot), murder, a little romance and some great laugh out loud situations thrown in. I think Phil did an outstanding job of bringing this story together in an interesting, fun and easy to read fashion.

    A fun read!

This story is a good summer read. It is set in a small Oklahoma town with a legend that sets it up for some not-so-nice people to explore. The characters are quirky and fun. This adventure will take you from rocky cliffs to noodling in a lake (you have to read it to discover what "noodling" means). I enjoyed the people in the town, from the spry, hard of hearing Nan to Punch who never seemed to take life seriously. I found a few spelling/editing errors but for only $2.99 through Nook, those were easily overlooked. My rating might be higher if there was a little more depth to the story; however, it was meant to be light-hearted and was still quite enjoyable.
