Editorial Reviews

The Midwest Book Review - Susan Bethany
The lure of the big score makes a mundane job seem so pointless. "Treasure Me" is the first book in Christine Nolfi's romance and adventure series following Birdie Kaminsky, who has been getting by so far with petty thievery. Seeking a treasure of The Civil War in the modern day, she finds plenty of things that aren't the treasure, and much more. "Treasure Me" is a riveting read for those who enjoy adventure fiction, highly recommended.
Workaday Reads and GoodReads - Sarah Helpers
Overall, I highly recommend this book. It had romance, a treasure hunt, and a great moral about being able to start over. It was very heartwarming and humourous. I loved it, and can't wait for the next book featuring The Second Chance Grill.
The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower - Casee Marie Clow
A finalist in the 2008 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards, Treasure Me is a fusion of mystery, romance and history that bounds from the Women's Fiction genre into unfathomable depths. It's a triumphant novel that sparks with warmth and honesty, brimming with emotion and leaving the reader with the genuine satisfaction of a remarkable reading experience.
GoodReads - Tahlia Newland
Christine Nolfi's Treasure Me is a real treasure. Her characters are complex, endearing and believable, and best of all, they grow as the book progresses.

Values to Treasure Her mother, an on the run criminal, her father, in and out of jail, Berdie Kaminski, finds herself on her own, at the age of sixteen. The only way she knows how to survive is to use her skills as a petty thief. Berdie is aware of a treasure hidden in Liberty, Ohio, since the Civil War. She has a clue from her ancestors that will guarantee she finds the treasure – rubies. Being a thief, Berdie travels to Liberty to steal the treasure. Lacking formal education, but possessing street smarts, Berdie can handle herself well. Because of her upbringing, she has trust issues, to say the least. Initially, she is guarded with everyone she meets in Liberty. But after living and working there, while searching for the clue that would change her life, she starts to warm up to the town and its people. Berdie thinks maybe there is hope for her and she can change her ways. Deep inside, she wants to be a respectable person, and relinquish her life of crime. While searching, she discovers information about a freedwoman, named Justice Postell, and Berdie considers her a role model. Postell gives her hope to change her criminal ways. Treasure Me has the most remarkable characters. The women who work at The Second Chance Grill are eccentric and fun. Christine Nolfi develops each character to relate to Birdie in their own way, making it a pleasure to enjoy the individuality of the characters. Birdie has a love interest, which she struggles with because of her past, and Hugh is a very complicated man. It’s great fun to follow their relationship. Treasure Me is an easy read as it flows smoothly from beginning to end. The characters are memorable, especially Theodora, whose character has an unpredictable twist at the end! What does the title, Treasure Me, signify? Does Berdie find the rubies and change her life? Does she leave Liberty? Does she learn the value of true friendship and family? I recommend readers of all ages, who enjoy mysteries, and a bit of romance, to read, Treasure Me, by Christine Nolfi.

I found reading about Birdie interesting. Her character was well developed and readers got to know quite a bit about her past and personality. This wasn't so with Hugh. I wished we are given a better glimpse of his past, beyond the fact that he is a man with a soft spot for women and had done something in the past that continues to haunt him. Strangely enough though, Hugh was my favorite character. I can't pinpoint exactly why, but it might have to do with the fact that he received the harsher "punishment" at the end of the story. Birdie had been a petty thief for years and I couldn't understand why she was let off so easily. I couldn't even sympathize with her after we are told that she had been used by her con mother when she was a little girl. I thought that the topic of Civil War gems was a bit too far-fetched. A plantation owner giving gems to a former slave? Incredible! Yet, since this book is completely a fiction work, it deserves allowance. Overall, while Treasure Me is a quaint story of treasures and romance, it is just not the type of story I'd pick up when I'm looking for something to read. Its prose was good, but I couldn't like it, as much as I had wanted to.

Treasure Me - Stellar Writing!! For a more in depth review, please visit my blog, Chorley Chronicals First off, I must say that I really do wish that all sources for which you can submit a review to would allow half ratings, because I strongly believe that Treasure Me deserves a Solid 4.5 rating!! I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of reading this book!! Christine Nolfi has expertly written this book with the most descriptive characters and settings of most books that I have read. I have this very clear picture of who Birdie Kaminsky is and of what Liberty, Ohio is like! There are some stories that you read and just go along with the lines, and there are other stories that you read and get lost in the words, which leaves you with a feeling that you are within the confines of the story yourself! The latter is exactly what happened for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the Liberty experience! Nolfi has skillfully and proficiently intertwined the "old" Liberty in with the "new" Liberty, leaving the reader feeling like he or she has a vast knowledge of the history, present, and even the future of the town!  Treasure Me is the perfect combination of humor, mystery, and intriguing relationships that gives the book a perfect balance! This book was such a pleasure to read! I already have book two in the Liberty series, Second Chance Grille, the prequel to Treasure Me, on my Kindle so I certainly will be continuing on with the antics of the Liberty crew and I can't wait to see what is in store for them! Stellar writing Christine Nolfi, stellar writing!!

“Treasure Me,” by Christine Nolfi, is a novel rich in fascinating characters in a small town in the midwest, most of whom mirror people I have come across in my life along with a couple more who I knew existed but had never met. Bit of an eye-opener. This is an intelligent, emotional and humorous story. Struggle, forgiveness and redemption are themes throughout. Along with a lot of great dialogue, there is romance, mystery, history and intrigue. The story twists and turns of phrase are exceptional. The people are so real, you will end this book wanting more of them all and, lucky for us, it’s the first in a series: The Liberty Series. Nolfi’s voice is authentic and all her own. She delivers.

Treasure Me by Christine Nolfi This is the first book of a new series about Liberty, Ohio. This one starts out in the present day but goes back in time to the Civil War and how blacks were taken out of the south via the Underground Railroad system to start new life's in the north. This is about Birdie and her family over the centuries of time. She is a thief-it's all she knows how to do thanks to her mother. Her father is in jail for a car theft and she travels to Liberty, OH to find the treasure. She reads a book about being a lady, the etiquette and manners. We find her in a restaurant where she's just gotten a job waitressing and will be living in the apartment upstairs. She will have to share it with Hugh, a newspaper reporter. They tend to get along ok at times not so well. She finds the clues she was looking for in her search for the rubies. She talks to many in town and finds more. Problem is Hugh's friend at the paper is onto a story about Birde's parents and how they stole the money in the investment firm. This is also the story of many others paths that she crosses and they all have a bearing in the story. Took me quite some time to actually get into this story and I'm so glad I stuck it out as it is an adventure, some travel, and some romance. Especially like the ending and how everything fits into place. There is an excerpt from the next book in the series, at the end. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This book grabbed me from the very beginning. The story is about Birdie who goes to the small town of Liberty with a clue looking for hidden treasure. She has had a very hard life with a father in prison and her mother is a con artist who used Birdie in her scams while she was growing up. At 16, Birdie goes out on her own making money as a pickpocket. In Liberty, Birdie gets a job as a waitress while searching for the treasure with plans to start a new honest life when she finds it. Then she meets people that she becomes friends with and realizes there are actually people that can be trusted, unlike her own parents. I truly enjoyed this well written story and loved the characters. The author brought everything to life so much that I am ready to move to the town! :) I feel as if I know everyone there. If you like a book that is heart warming, a bit of a mystery, humorous, some romance and an all around excellent read... pick this one. I loved it and look forward to reading more from this author!

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. It is a charming tale of hidden treasure and new beginnings. The story was engaging and very entertaining. It was hard for me to put down. I was always wanting to read “just one more chapter.” I was enchanted by the small town of Liberty, Ohio and its wonderfully quirky residents. I fell in love with the town and, most of all, The Second Chance Grill. It was great how Ms. Nolfi weaved the history of the town into the story. The sexual tension between Birdie and Hugh added an interesting dimension to the story as a whole. I absolutely loved all of the characters. From the skillet-wielding Finney to the gun-toting Theodora, the quirky cast of characters was great fun to read about. Of course the main character, Birdie Kaminsky, captured my heart from the outset. I loved witnessing her transformation as the story progressed. In the end, she finds a treasure far more precious than what she set out to find. I would absolutely recommend this book. Christine Nolfi is an immensely talented storyteller and this book is just one example of her talent.
