Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Karen Saxe
In this collection of stories, we meet both fearsome and friendly dragons. It includes modern stories as well as traditional folk tales, fables from cultures around the world as well as from contemporary authors. Fifteen different stories are told, each about ten to fifteen pages long. Preschoolers will enjoy listening to their parents read these aloud, and young readers will enjoy reading them by themselves. This compilation is part of the ''Treasury" series.
School Library Journal
Gr 2-5This collection of 15 previously published stories and retellings, with new black-and-white spot illustrations, is a serviceable and economical choice for those who never have enough dragon tales. Children may have read some of these selections as picture books, such as Jay Williams's Everybody Knows What a Dragon Looks Like (Four Winds, 1984), or as chapters from longer books, such as an excerpt from Kathryn Cave's Dragonrise (Penguin, 1984; o.p.). So, while this book offers nothing new, it is an attractive paperback with an enticing cover.Nina Lindsay, Vista School, Albany, CA
