Overview

This second and concluding volume of Jigme Lingpa’s classic Treasury of Precious Qualities is presented together with a detailed commentary by Kangyur Rinpoche. Composed in the form of a lamrim, or presentation of the stages of the path, the first volume set out the teachings of the sutras. The present volume continues this same structure and is a general description of the tantra teachings followed by an exposition of the Great Perfection, which in the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism is regarded as the summit of all vehicles and the final stage of the path of spiritual training. The section on the tantras is a compendious presentation of all important issues: lineage, empowerment, the generation and perfection stages, and samaya. The section on the Great Perfection is arranged according to the classification of Ground, Path, and Result and gives an extremely clear introduction to the doctrinal background that underpins the practice of this unique system.

Meet the Author

Longchen Yeshe Dorje, Kangyur Rinpoche (1897–1975), of the monastery of Riwoche in Kham, was a great scholar and tertön. He spent much of his life as a wandering hermit, living in mountain retreats and practicing in various parts of Tibet. He left Tibet in the 1950s and was one of the first Tibetan masters to accept Western disciples.

Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa (1730–1798) was a great master of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. The root of the Khyentse lineage, he was a tertön, or discoverer of treasure teachings, and revealed the Longchen Nyingtik, one of the most important cycles of meditative practice in the Nyingma school.

The Padmakara Translation Group, based in France, has a distinguished reputation for all its translations of Tibetan texts and teachings. Its work has been published in several languages and is renowned for its clear and accurate literary style.

    Dawning Twilight - 14

She shuddered. It was a light snow, clouds roiling in like the mist Mysteryflower once feared. It darkened the sky. Twilightpaw felt a biting cold wind pierce her fur, shake her bones. Cats slunk towards their den.
Twilightpaw couldnt move. There was something in her mind that prevented her; as if a storm held the secrets to life. But in her life she knew it held the answers to death and destruction. But there was a drifting shape, gliding upon huge grey wings, one with the clouds.
its fur was starry. She appeared to be th only one who saw. But the thick of the storm had reached her; and the frostbite of thick winter brought her back to attention. The snow was already covering her paws. She jerkily jumped out of it.
she akwardly but swiftly pawed her way to the den, each pawstep sinking into the deepening snow, like a cold soft quicksand. She was greeted by the warm den and the presence of the other apprintices. "Hey," Autumnpaw meowed. "Tell you what, it definetly is not pretty..." Twilightpaw nodded her approval.
