Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jacki Vawter
As one of the "Starting With Nature" series, this information book efficiently reports appropriate aspects of trees. Deciduous and coniferous differences, types of leaves, color changes in leaves, leglike roots of the mangrove trees, location of tree types on a U.S. map, a tree as shelter for creatures, trees as everyday products, and endangered trees are among the many double-page spreads using simple text and photo-quality illustrations. The text is enhanced by how-to's, experiments, sidebars of additional information, and lists. Although there is no glossary, a table of contents and index are included. The illustrations are excellent and feature plenty of children involved with tree enjoyment and tree study. Part of the "Starting With Nature" series.
