Overview

Dez Cross has problems. She’s almost eighteen and on the verge of losing her mind thanks to the drug the Denazen corporation used to enhance her abilities. People close to her have turned their backs on the underground and are now fighting for the wrong side. And then there’s Kale... Things couldn’t get any worse.

Until, of course, they do. Denazen is about to start a new trial—this one called Domination—and it works. But that means out with the old and in with the new. The order has been given to terminate all remnants of the second trial—including Dez. The good news is that there’s a survivor from the original trial. A woman whose blood may hold the cure for the second generation of Supremacy kids' defects. But the underground Sixes aren’t the only ones who know about her.

Dez's father is willing to throw away everything he has to keep Dez from getting the cure—including the one thing that might tear her apart from the inside out.

This series just keeps getting better and better!  Once again, author Jus Accardo has done it again.  She grabbed my attention and kept a hold of it until the very end!  There were so many shock worthy moments that left me reeling.

The story picks up a few months after the end of book 2.  Kale has given himself to Dez’s father to save Dez’s life.  In true Marshal Cross style, he only wanted Kale, and couldn’t care less if Dez was cured of the poison that was coursing through her body.   Not a day has gone by where Kale wasn’t the first thing on Dez’s mind, and life without him is pretty unbearable.  All she wants to do is go and find Kale and bring him back home before the people at Denazen (aka her after) does something horrible to him.  But time is ticking for the Supremacy kids and the Underground are determined to find as many as they can, before they die whether it be due to the drug that caused all this, or by the hands of Denazen.

Even though going to a party is the last thing that Dez wants to do, but it’s at one of these parties that Dez has one of the most shocking moments of her life.  Not only does she run into her crazy ass sister, Kiernan, but it seems that Kale is now her boy toy, and ready to kill Dez.  Apparently, Kiernan goes by Roz, and Dez is apparently Kiernan…or so Kale believes.  He also believes that Dez is the reason why he has lost all him memories, which include his past, his friends, and his family.  How can this be you ask?  Oh the power of these Sixes… Thanks to a Six at Denazen, they have successfully warped Kale’s mind to believe what I just listed!  And he has forgotten everything else…the Underground, family, … Dez.  And it also appears that thanks to a new drug called Domination, which is a new trial version of the Supremacy drug, Kale’s power has become even more powerful, and he’s able to control it now.

With both Kale (Denazen) and Dez (the Underground) rounding up Supremacy kids from all over, it’s all a question of who will get to them first to warn them of what’s happening to them and to save them from Denazen and give them a chance at life.  But there is one Supremacy kid who is of most interest to Dez and to Marshal Cross, and it’s a race to see who will reach him first.

Tremble by Jus Accardo ripped by heart apart at times!  It also had me literally laughing out loud and the conversations and the scenarios.  I will never get tired of Dez’s fire cracker attitude.  I love her fierce loyalty to Kale and to the Underground, and I love how, even when the going got extremely tough, she kept on keeping on.  She had her eyes set on a goal, and was going to follow it through to the end…regardless of how many people disagreed with her.

In this installment, the Kale that we all know and love, is more or less gone.  He has been transformed into this jerk of a guy who was quick to kill and full of hate.  I can’t tell you how many times his words and actions felt like a punch in the gut…even though they were directed at Dez.  I felt for the girl!  And I was wanting to put my hands into the book and grab Kale and shake the crap outta him and tell him to snap out of it!  Unfortunately, he probably would’ve zapped the crap outta me and I would have been eviscerated!  Eeep!

We see even more of just how evil Marshal Cross is in this installment.  And this guy is freaking nuts!  No priorities, except anything that would benefit him.  And we witness his craziness time and time again.  We see just how heartless this douche of a father is.  He pissed me off over and over again.

And don’t even get me started on the twist provided by daddy dearest himself.  I believe my mouth was wide open, as were my eyes, when this tiny tidbit was revealed.

Page after pager, chapter after chapter, I was totally and completely engrossed in this book.  I am seriously in dire need to the next book!  I have so many unanswered questions that I know will be answered in the next installment!  Fans of this series will completely devour Tremble by Jus Accardo.  Readers looking for a read full of action and emotion should definitely check out this series.

Diving into Tremble for me, was a planned event. I bought snacks

Diving into Tremble for me, was a planned event. I bought snacks and prepped bags with Fruit Loops, Reese Pieces and good ole M&M's. Who can sit down for an intense reading session without favorite treats? I even brewed coffee because coffee always makes reading that much more enjoyable for me. Lol *sigh of relief* I'm so glad I did. You'll need to as well. I mean by page 38, I was hooked and turning the pages with a burning need. Tremble brought back a lot more scenes with Alex (cue heart stopping moments and some swooning on my part. I do love me some Alex) and Brandt turns back up in Tremble as well! I missed him so much in her last installment and re-read the page when he showed back up in Dez's story. So far, as of this moment, Tremble is my favorite book in the Denazen series. The plot twists and emotions that filled the pages were unbelievable. My heart was crushed for Dez when she saw Kale (that was the first rug pulled out from under my feet) and for while I was convinced that Jus Accardo decided she hated me and her characters.

I was sure that Jus had just introduced her climatic plot twist a little early and Tremble was going to follow a direction I just never saw coming. But that wasn't the case at all. Kale and Dez was only the first mind-blowing, heart stopping revelations of many. Every time I was wondering how we got so far down this road, convinced I read something wrong *BAM* she turned it around and I was cheering for Dez and the sixes (of course until I caught my breath and read into the next twist)! Tremble's plot is intricate and woven together beautifully, letting the character's shine and becoming more intense as the story progresses.

Kale, Kale, Kale...what can I say about Kale...Ladies, prepare to fall in love again with him. His progression throughout the series has been awesome and only encourages my crush. In Tremble, we get to see Kale in a strong, confident and powerful demeanor. Even though he sheds some of his innocent traits and literally almost becomes someone unrecognizable, in the end, I was blown away by the transformation and wiping up drool.

Dez is still a little pistol. I love her fiery attitude, witty remarks, confidence and determination. Throughout the series she's become one of my favorite female leads. I feel like Tremble showed us a deeper side of Dez and an even deeper insight on her line of thinking and how she feels. The poor girl is put through the ringer in this book. If I was her I would have fallen apart completely by page 25. Seriously, the moment with Dez, Alex and Jade at the club has been seared in my brain for a week. Killer. Her emotional turmoil throughout the book kept me up until the wee hours (I mean, I couldn't turn my back on her too).
Okay and another reason this book and series rocks my socks off is Jus Accardo's world building. The fact that this is the third book (not including the novellas) and we're still learning new things about their world is really cool. The Underground world and the Denazen just keep growing. The sixes and all their awesome abilities and talents are squeal worthy! You can't help but to get lost in their world and with the plethora of amazing characters Jus fills the stories with will only drag you deeper in and keep the pages turning. I like how all the concepts, facts and tidbits about their world and the rules are blended together seamlessly and never leave me wondering what's going on in a bad way. Because all the twists and turns Jus Accardo takes you on, will leave you freaking out and wondering what the hell is happening!

Alas, I cannot praise this book enough without giving away some major spoilers. If you are a fan of books that are written in such a way that you feel so involved with the story that when the character you're reading gasps, so do you--this series is for you. You need to read the first two before reading Tremble, but don't worry, you'll read them in one sitting. Jus Accardo commands your attention and demands you keep reading. Finishing a chapter only means you're one step closer to figuring out what's going to happen but you will turn the page and read "just one more chapter" until the very end. Hence the snack pack, you won't want to get up.

I'm so excited to see what book 4 could possibly have in store for us after everything that happened in Tremble. I was shattered, torn and enraged just like Dez throughout the entire read and I'm wishing I could read book 4 right now. Honestly when I started reading Tremble I was slightly nervous. If a series is going to fall apart, as a reader, book 3 is always the indicator. However Jus Accardo wrote the strongest book yet in the Denazen series that will definitely leave you with a book hangover.

    Yes!!!

Okay so Mason was awesome, I loved how diffrent he was and how sweet he was. Emma turned out to be a really enjoyable character that you just wanted to root for ( you also wanted to push Andy off her windowsill for her)
.) I will not give anything away but I will say look out for the dragonflies!

Ugh. I love this series. I loved this book but really we are left with another cliffhanger. It took forever for this book and now more waiting? I hope it wont take as long as the last one.

Boy Dez cannot get a break! Her boyfriend has been taken by Dena

Boy Dez cannot get a break! Her boyfriend has been taken by Denazen and her illness is getting worse. She feels isolated and doesn’t find joy in anything that she used to. Like going to clubs and dancing, until she see’s Kale and discovers her worst nightmare has come true.

This go ‘round Ginger has a list of people from the second trial that need saving and each of the underground team are off to do the rescuing. But Denazen is on top of it too and the race to find the remnants of the second trial has higher stakes, ones that include a personal showdown between Dez and the Denazen agents.

I really love Dez because she is a fighter and doesn’t back down. I think that makes her incredibly stubborn but it works in her favor because of the circumstances her life has been given. For a character that seems so hopeless she tries with a determination I wish I had.

The Underground, in a new facility supplied by Dax, has become like a family, a support group that rely on each other. In Tremble we see this family dynamic grow as well as introduction of some new characters that add drama to the book.

Kale. Oh Kale, you are so stinking bad it’s hot! In the game of short straws, life played him the shortest in circumstances and the longest in skills. We want him to win, we want him to take Denazen down and Tremble gives you not just the action packed roller coaster but the emotional one as well.

One of the reasons I enjoy this series so much is because I cannot predict one thing that will happen. I am always surprised by what Jus brings to the series. I believe with the incredible kaleidoscope and depth of characters in the Denazen series it could go on for a long time or even branch off. There are so many people in these books that have great stories to tell and with the introductions of new characters in Tremble, the series only becomes richer.

I suffered a little heartache through Tremble, some laughing and some white knuckle reading – Tremble is another lethal combination from the amazing Jus Accardo.

    What I didn’t like:
I think what sells these books is the incredible action Jus Accardo writes. It’s one obstacle or trial after another – like an Indiana Jones movie. While I love Indiana Jones movies, I found myself growing impatient in Tremble. I wanted more of “those” moments of clarity, honesty and connection with the other characters. That is where the true story lies and what makes this series work for me. Those moments clarify and solidify the relationships, loyalty and group dynamic – making the willingness to fight and die for each other believable.

Would I buy this book: Yes, I would. It is a great and totally addicting series.

Who would I recommend this book to? Older teens and adult YA lovers. There is some swearing, lots of fighting and death. Talk of sex.

Rating: I give Tremble four skulls. Jus Accardo writes another nail biting book that latterly made me drop my kindle and say “HOLY CRAP”! I love these characters and find myself cheering for them and arguing with their decisions. Yes, that makes me little nuts to admit I argue with book characters and try make them do what I want, but admit it, you do too. ;)

Tremble is book 3 in the Denazen series, you really should read book one Touch and book two Toxic before tackling Tremble – you would be lost without knowing the back story.

    For the Denazen series reader:
I find myself wondering why Dez doesn’t use her ability to cure everyone. She is ill but has the ability to change into someone else – why doesn’t she just change the illness? Or would that just be too easy? Love to hear your thoughts!

I will confess. It took me a while to read the first books in this series. I'd pretty much reached my max on series with no end in sight and cliffhanger endings. I was contemplating author-cide. Add to that, I'd read a couple of books where the person's touch could kill, and all I could do was roll my eyes that there was another one. I must now LOUDLY apologize to all who told me to go ahead and read it because this series is different. I'm not going to rehash Touch, and Toxic, but will expect you to be smarter than I was and go ahead and read the first two.

Tremble picks up slightly after the end of Toxic. Denazen has gone FAR underground with no signs of them or Kale. Meanwhile, Dez has to pretend to be the same girl she was before Kale was taken, at least in the eyes of the "normal" world. Though fully healed from the events that occurred at the end of Toxic, Dez is still "serum sick" and in one of the first few scenes we're shown that her symptoms are escalating. We also learn there might be a cure if they can find one of the subjects from the original subject batch.

It doesn't take long for Kale to make his appearance in the book, but when he does...UGH! It's more awful than I would have expected. I won't tell you why because it's a HUGE spoiler and I'd rather have you mad at Jus than me. :)

Shocked by their meeting Dez is even more determined to rescue Kale, however Ginger has other plans. Thanks to their inside informant. Ginger knows Denazen is going to terminate all the Supremacy kids and there are still more "out in the wild". Ginger sends them out to try and bring the other kids in before Denazen wipes them out.

Dez runs into Kale again on one of these missions and [insert spoilery thing here]. She's once again overwrought by their meeting, but gains a surprising ally working from inside Denazen. When Dez and Kale meet again for the third time, the fun REALLY starts, by which I mean all the good spoilery stuff that I won't mention.

I was really pleased with this third book in the Touch series. Inroads are gained, and lost, and gained to finding a cure for the Supremacy kids. New friends are made, people die--shocking I know--one character's twist had my jaw dropping, and you even learn some things about the history of Denazen. A fast-paced, frustrating, yet satisfying thrill-ride of a book, Tremble has me ready for book 4.

Go grab it so it can grab you back.

I stayed up late to finish this. Was it worth it? OH KALE YES it was!

What I liked: This is a tough review to write and NOT be spoilerish but I will do my best. TREMBLE is fast paced, action packed and picks up not too long after TOXIC and Jus Accardo wastes no time kicking you in the feels as far as Kale and Kiernan are concerned. (From that point on, I think my heart took up permanent residence in my throat.) I so enjoy watching Dez grow as a character and she's a great example of how a girl can be both ballsy and vulnerable. She along with Alex continue to kick some Denazen ars and we actually get inside Denazen which is a big ball of DO.NOT.WANT.

And then there is Kale who is just as tall, dark and dangerous as ever and OH MY KALE I WANT TO SAY SO MUCH BUT I CAN'T so just read it and then we can discuss.

What left me wanting: Kale + kissing = not enough. Because really, is there ever enough kissing when Kale is involved? Yeah, didn't think so. ;)

Final verdict: Action, adrenaline, romance and swoon---fans of the Denazen Series (and Kale) will not be disappointed!
