Overview

This cowboy's for real! Combining honky tonk with a monster-riff punch, Trent Summar & the New Row Mob are an honest group of country-rockers who play it hard and loud. Harder, in fact, than just about everyone. A killer wall of guitar opens "Paint Your Name in Purple" and surges along throughout the rest of the album, easing up slightly for the occasional ballad before blasting off again. Not a hit, but a great album nonetheless, with cool harmonies, organ, and even hints of new wave adding to the fun.

These guys are hillbilly rock stars. The music doesn't fit into any nice little box - its got country soul and lots of rock guitar. Plus, the drum sounds are amazing - you can actually hear the sticks banging out the beat.

It's good to be reminded that country music doesn't have to be another pop-icon in a designer leather jacket. Keith Urban should put on this record and reconsider his earrings.
