More About This Book

Overview

All is not right in the land of the three moons.

From the moment Yarri Moon was born, Torrant heard the bells of joy whenever she was near. But the world can be a cruel place, even for the moon destined, and when an evil born of ignorance destroys their families and their home in the heart of Clough, Torrant and Yarri learn first hand how ugly prejudice against the Goddess moon can be.

After a terrible journey, they find shelter with Yarri's family in Eiran, a land of easy tolerances and joy. However, as Torrant grows, so does his anger at the forces that destroyed their peace, their home, and their family back in Clough.

Torrant is a healer and a poet, and he has the magic gift of truth. As he waits for Yarri to come of age, he sees, first hand, how the same beliefs that destroyed their home are poisoning the lands around him, and corrupting the hearts of the people within.

Ultimately, Torrant is faced with a choice: He can claim Yarri and they can live the love that has been promised them since the beginning, or he can take his one, most terrifying and secret gift into the land of Clough and remove, in one dreadful strike, the evil that has cost him and his beloved so very much.

But choosing vengeance over love exacts its own terrible price, and Torrant may find that the part of him that was destined to be loved by Yarri is the part that's annihilated in his quest to make her safe.

    BITTER MOON IS MAGICAL

must preface this review by saying , I am a lover of all Amy Lane . So if you are to read this and possibly say this review is over the top...It might be...

I have read Amy Lanes Little Goddess series and if you go to my reviews on Vulnerable, Wounded and Bound, you will see her writings bring out many strong emotions for me. So, when I went on line this morning after finishing Bitter Moon 1 last night, I was staring at the previous review posted here and the reviewer said they had just finished the book 5 minutes before posting and I could not do that. After reading Amy's books , I must take a moment to digest it and come out of the world she has so beautifully written about. I need to think over the magic before I can tell you about it.

Amy"s Bitter Moon hinges on inhumanity . Amy uses a mystical place with mystical characters to bring out how people through mis-guided thoughts can be harmful.

It starts in a place called Clough where Torrant Shadow watched his adopted family and mother killed for their beliefs. He is placed to save his beloved Yarrow Moon the last decendant of that family. He is only 14 and she is just a small child

We travel through many years of their growing up until Torrant is faced with the final decision all readers will hope will come to fruition in reading this story , his marrying Yarri when she turns 18.. Yarri was his intended from birth as bells rang in young Torrants heart when she was born

The other choice is saving their people from the evil destroying their world.
The books ending was as it should be . We learned so much about these two young people and knowing Torrants healing strength and the snow cat inside, the decision was made before we could shout out NO.

With a wonderful ensamble of family and friends, teachers and lovers, we meet Trieste, Aldalm, Roes ,Aylan and most of all Bethie and Lane their adopted parents. We learn about the gift of family and the struggle to keep family and warmth and joy in ones life. A very strong message Amy Lane...Book 2 of Bitter Moon is sitting all pretty next to me waiting for my attention and I am glad it is here and the story continues..

    Again a wonderful story!!!10 star

Amy Lane continues to Amaze me! Superb Story, A Must Read

Again, Amy Lane has brought her characters to life, leaping right off the pages and into my heart. This complex story of Life and Love is told with such insight and tenderness, it makes you wish you were honored enough to be a part of it. The depth of the characters is so well portrayed, it's amazing she could accomplish it in the words of a single novel. I wish I could do it justice with mere words, but you just have to read it. The story is interesting, intriguing, and the strength of the continuity carries you through the last page, leaving you wanting more. I look forward to Bittermoon II with great anticipation.
