But for Tribal Gatherings, Music of the World is quite traditional in its outlook. This enriching collection offers ceremonial, spiritual and social performances by members of the Hopi, Navajo, Comanche, Cheyenne, Pueblo, Kiowa and Zuni tribes. Artists like the Garcia Brothers, the Alliance West Singers, Jones Benally and Peter Garcia favor time-honored drums and/or percussion instruments, and the type of chants they provide have been a part of Native American gatherings for centuries. Cheyenne's "Round Dance" incorporates some English lyrics, but it's far from pop. If you consider yourself a purist when it comes to Native American music, this is a CD you can appreciate.
