Overview

Pippa Hunnechurch—a Brit by birth, a Marylander, by choice, and a headhunter by occupation—gets caught in a deadly web of deceit when a little white lie becomes a trifle to die for.
Pippa’s one-woman recruiting business—financed with her life savings—is threatened by the nation’s economic slowdown. Her luck seems to improve when she nails down a plum recruiting assignment and teams up with Marsha Morgan, a wildly successful local headhunter who finds the perfect candidate for the job. But Pippa’s joy ends when her new colleague drowns in what looks like a freak accident.
Pippa soon discovers that Marsha died because of “harmless exaggerations” in the resumes of her most successful candidates.
The abrupt death of another headhunter creates an impossible dilemma for Pippa: If Pippa cooperates with the police, she’ll ruin her own reputation and destroy the careers of four celebrated women. If she remains silent, she’ll become the target of a ruthless murderer—who tried to kill the man Pippa’s just begun to love.
“A Trifle to Die For” was previously published under the title “Little White Lies.”

Meet the Author

Ron and Janet Benrey have been a writing team for nearly two decades. They’ve co-written nine romantic suspense novels, beginning with “A Trifle to Die For.” They occasionally write fiction independently.
Despite their authorial togetherness, Ron and Janet have dissimilar backgrounds:
Janet has been a literary agent, the editorial director of a small press, an executive recruiter, and a book publicist. Janet earned her degree in Communication (Magna cum Laude) from the University of Pittsburgh.
Ron has been a writer forever—initially on magazines (his first real job was Electronics Editor at Popular Science Magazine), then in corporations (he wrote speeches for senior executives), and then as a novelist. Over the years, Ron has authored ten non-fiction books. His latest is “Know Your Rights: A Survival Guide for Non-Lawyers.” Ron holds degrees in electrical engineering, management, and law.
Ron and Janet live in North Carolina. When they aren’t writing, you’ll probably find them aboard their sailboat, in the Neuse River.

    A Great Read

A great protagonist (Pippa Hunnechurch), an engaging sidekick (her trusted aide, Gloria) and a mystery to die for. Pippa is a Brit transplanted to Maryland. In "A TRIFLE TO DIE FOR" she finds her head hunter business struggling in a tough economy. So Pippa joins forces with a more established head hunter. But when her new partner turns up dead, she has to find the killer or risk the loss of her livelihood. This is a great read, with a potent message for the times in which we live.

    Absorbing Mystery!

Janet and Ron Benrey have put together an absorbing and intricate mystery in A TRIFLE TO DIE FOR. The "trifle" in the title refers to both the delicious dessert Pippa makes (mouth watering!) and the seemingly simple motive for murder that was far from easy to uncover and had high-stakes consequences. I highly enjoyed the story, cast of characters and exciting finish. I think you will too!
