Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Dana J Lawrence, DC, MMedEd, MA (Palmer College of Chiropractic)
Description: This is a series of charts demonstrating the location of trigger points in the body, the muscle actions that produce them, and exercises to help reduce them. It is presented as a flip chart. While this is a second edition, there is no description of how this differs from the first edition.
Purpose: The purpose is to help readers understand what trigger points are, how they affect the musculoskeletal system, and what can be done to treat them.
Audience: These charts are of use mostly for students learning about the musculoskeletal system, whether in physical therapy, medical, osteopathic, or chiropractic school.
Features: Because these are just anatomical illustrations that demonstrate where trigger points commonly form, describe how they affect the musculoskeletal system, and provide modest information as to how to manage them, this is a resource that is meant to be used along with other sources of information.
Assessment: The series of charts do what they set out to do and nothing more. This works well alongside other books and can be used for those in training as an aid to learning.
