Overview

Three months ago, I lost my foster sister, Sienna, to the darkness. As in blood magic and chaos and general mayhem. No one saw it until it was too late, but I should have. Now, I have a wounded heart and soul that I can’t even reveal to anyone around me, because I’m supposed to hate Sienna with the fiery passion of the justified. And I do. I just wish I didn’t feel so lost without her, so unsure of the path I thought I had carved for myself, and so outclassed by the powerful Adepts constantly by my side these days. I’m not even sure if they’re with me for my own protection or because my shiny new powers are rare and valuable. Assuming I ever figure out who or what I am, and how my magic actually works.Even chocolate can’t save the day every time … just most of the time. At least I’ve got that going for me.

    I Also Recommend:

I loved reading this book! I read the first in the Dowser series

I loved reading this book! I read the first in the Dowser series a week ago (found offered on B & N for free and thought why not) and am so glad I purchased the second in the series. It's well-written with a unique storyline. I hate that the book ended; so I am eagerly anticipating reading the third Dowser book later this week. This author writes fast-paced and the action and story just flows like a steady river through your mind. As you can probably tell, I will buy more books from this author; both the Dowser series and her other novels.

    230 pages

Book 2 of a series of three with book 4 coming out in the fall of 2014. Book one was free. Book two and three cost $5.00 each. The books average around 230 pages each. Book one and three could be stand alone novels, but two was not concluded. All three books are very violent and bloody with lots of death. The books are paranormal and very well written and edited. There is a great flow and an incredible amount of action. At times the violence can be disturbing. Several new characters, a curser, a sorccesor, demons and guardian dragons are introduced in book two. These along with the were creatures, witches, vampires, necromancers, ghosts, spell casters and alchemists join forces in a war pitting good and evil. There is a lot of spells, magic and good verses evil. In my review of book one, I said, "I would let a 16 year old read this series. " Book two and three have become so bloody and violent, I have changed my mind and moved the age to 18 and up. There is no religion, cursing, sex, gays, drug or alcohal use. There are a few make out sessions. I would have given this book, ( two) five stars if it had not been a cliff hanger and had less violence. Book three is even bloodier with more death. Even with this, it is a good read for both roosters and chicks. Normally, I do not like paranormal books at all. I still think this series would make good movies.

    Pretty Sublime!

Jade Godfrey is back, and it's now been three months since Sienna's betrayal. It's also been about 2 & 1/2 since the magical world found out that the Godfreys have a third generation they've been keeping under wraps and some even suspect that her rare dowsing talent is only the tip of the iceberg. There is nothing wasted in this book though you might wonder a bit at times, but not only does it all make sense, it also helps explain even more of Jade's world.

To be blunt, I wasn't that fond of the first book but it really picked up in the end and this one is no different. Questions are answered but tons more crop right back up! Can't wait to read the next one! My only complaint is they need to be longer... lol!

    Loved it

More bumbling and more answers as the heroine discovers that she is more than she ever dreamed but is not to happy with her Grandmother and Mother who instead of training her distracted her until she bumbled right into her heritage.

What a great surprise find :)

I got the first one, because it was free, for my 12 year old daughter. She loves mystical and magical stories. She LOVED it! She begged me to buy each of the following books immediately after she finished the previous one. Very happy to have found this series! She is currently waiting for the next one to come out...and not very patiently:) It was nice to be surprised with a series my daughter loved for an inexpensive cost :)

Excellent urban fantasy series, well written and a real page-turner. Continues the story begun in the first book and doesn't disappoint. A great read.

    Exciting Urban Fantasy

The second volume in Doidge's series picks up only a few months after the previous volume ended. New characters are introduced (I particularly like Mory the teen necromancer), and old enemies resurface. There is also just a touch of romance. Just be prepared for the doozy of a cliffhanger ending.

My *only* complaint is that the story needed a more thorough edit. There are a few places where words are missing, or the wrong word is used.

Recommended to fans of Seanan McGuire, Gini Koch, and Kevin Hearne. -- lyradora
