A series of photos accompany a simple description of how the crucial dispatch office works, culminating in the fire bell's ring. There are two pages of bright pictures to describe the different kinds of fire trucks, and more pages of the children as they climb all over the trucks, exploring and pretending. The text of this picture book uses easy-to-read vocabulary with technical terms where appropriate.
