Overview

A New York Times and USA Today Bestseller!

A romance from bestselling author Lauren Blakely...
Sometimes you can't help falling in love, even when you try to do the opposite...Successful fashion blogger McKenna Bell has spent far too long protecting herself after the way her ex-fiancé left her at the altar for a college chick he met the night of his bachelor party. Loving again, trusting again, well, that's just not in the cards. Especially now that her ex is back in town with his new woman, demanding custody of McKenna's favorite creature in the whole world--her dog. No effing way. McKenna's had enough of him, and she decides to even the score by finding her own hot young thing -- a Trophy Husband. Sure, she's only twenty-seven, but doesn't that make it even more fun -- and infuriating to her ex -- to pursue a younger man? When she declares her intentions on her daily blog, her quest quickly skyrockets in popularity, and that's when Chris enters the picture, and he’s got all the assets. He's handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star. But loving again could mean losing again, and it's so much easier to focus on getting even, isn't it? Unless, you just can't help falling in love. Which means McKenna will have to come face to face with what she really wants in life -- protecting her heart from hurt, or letting go of her fears of a new beginning.

*Trophy Husband is a sexy romance novel in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Caught Up In Love series, that includes Caught Up in Us, Pretending He's Mine, and Playing With Her Heart. (While each book can be read as a standalone, you'll likely enjoy the other books too.)*

Bn, please do something to these ppl who reveal everything in their reviews. One reviewer even quoted passages from the book. That is taking a review entirely too far. These ppl do not write a review. They retell the book, revealing the entire storeline. Please do something to these ppl, ban them, fine them, do something.

Trophy Husband was a FANTASTIC read. It was so fresh and funny and steamy as all get out. I adored the characters and loved seeing the chemistry between McKenna and Chris sizzle right off the pages. The book stayed with me long after I finished it, Chris for even longer than that. :) This was a fun, flirty book and the best in Ms. Blakely's collection IMO.

McKenna's got issues. I understand. Her heart's been trampled on

McKenna's got issues. I understand. Her heart's been trampled on, and that sucks. But I love her because instead of doing the kind of pathetic, indiscrete Bridgit Jones wallow that degrades every woman on the planet, (i.e. fall into a bottle of vodka and a quart of ice cream and stay there for six months...and does anybody really find that amusing anymore?), she holds her head high and decides to show her ex she's moved on. (Yes, thank you. A new reaction to getting one's heart trampled). Except, inside, she hasn't gotten over the sting of betrayal. But she gamely searches for her very own trophy husband--the obvious answer to her ex's younger, aggressively limber choice.

And that brings us to Chris. I loved Chris. Hot. Handsome. Brainy. He's the total package, if only McKenna can let go of her "plans" long enough to see it!

The story unfolds with all of Blakely's typical humor and heat. But it's the breath-stealing affection that turns her stories into something more than mere contemporary romance. Blakely delivers another "keeper" with Trophy Husband!

*I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.*

What a great fun and flirty read. Ms. Blakely had done it again.

I really liked the concept of Trophy Husband, it was a refreshing twist to storylines out there just now. McKenna Bell was jilted the night before her wedding by her douchebag of a fiancé who decided to elope with a random chick during his bachelor party in Vegas. It is a wonder how McKenna could pick herself up from that devastating blow and move on but a fashion blogger by day and a fashionista at heart, all McKenna needs is a cute t-shirt and a great pair of shoes to hold her head up high.

McKenna is surviving day to day with her heartache, trying to move on until said douche moves back in the area with his Trophy Wife; bendy like a pretzel and 21 years young. To stoke the fire even more, McKenna soon discovers the very same man who confessed he didn't want kids with her is now a doting Papa bear and to top it off he used the name he and McKenna had picked out. What an ass! Anyhoo, what does McKenna decide to do? Make a stand for all the ladies out there and decide if it's good enough for men then it sure is good enough for women and her quest to snag a Trophy Husband begins!

With the help of her daily video blog the idea of finding a Trophy Husband snowballs and her viewers are voting on candidates and whittling them down. McKenna's few attempts to find a Trophy Husband on her own result in some of the funniest yet worst dates ever. But McKenna soon comes to realise that you don't need contests or blogs or even the label of 'Trophy Husband' to find the man of your dreams, sometimes it just takes your best friend's cat to pee on your camera. ;) Intrigued? you need to read this great story to find out more!

What I really loved about this story was the fact it was very much about McKenna's journey, sure there was the parade of hot men as prospective 'Trophy Husbands' and we were treated to the perfect delight that was Chris but essentially this was about McKenna overcoming the heartache of the past. She had to realise she wasn't to blame for Todd leaving her, there wasn't anything she could have done differently. He was just simply a Grade A douche!

I enjoyed witnessing McKenna get back out there and taking chances by asking guys out or trying her hand a flirting again. She started out wanting to make a point for women but in the end she realised she was just achingly lonely and wanted to be in a loving relationship. At the end of the day don't we all?

Chris was perfection! Loved him, he wasn't a reformed bad boy, an uptight billionaire looking for a play thing, he was just an ordinary surfing Adonis (because there is an abundance of them of course ;)) He was smart, extremely sexy, funny and cute. He absolutely stole my heart. And it was great to read about a guy who had his life figured out and knew what he wanted.

And as always Ms. Blakely knows how to write good smut ;) I loved the chemistry between McKenna and Chris, the book wasn't saturated with smexy scenes one after the other and it wouldn't have been placed well if it did as I mentioned before this was about McKenna and regaining control of her life but when McKenna and Chris did go there: oh my! I shall never look at arcade games in the same light again. ;) This would have been a 5 star read for me if it had been slightly longer. I feel we just got a snippet of McKenna and Chris together, I loved their characters and the greedy reader in me always wants more!

After reading Trophy Husband there is no doubt that I love Lauren Blakely. Like adore her, fan girl style! I was a fan before with the Caught Up In Us series and there is no question I will remain a fan. Lauren captures romance that we can all relate to. I love her writing and McKenna's thoughts penned by Lauren are echoed by every female, we all want to be wanted, lusted after and most of all loved. McKenna is a girl after my own heart and I loved her.

This is a great story with fabulous characters and effortlessly written, 1-click this Gem now!

    Great surprise

This was was surprisingly good. I had nevet read a book from this author and the trophy husband contest sounded too unrealistic. But I was wrong, and the book turned out to be very entertaining, with very well developed and relatable characters. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I did not particularly liked how the author filled some chapters with description of sex scenes that the heroine imagined. Not only were they not needed, they were distracting. I ended up skimming through them. But the rest was great. I particularly liked the hero, yummy!

Lauren Blakely did it again!!!!! This book is full of sexiness. Chris is my favorite book boyfriend of all time. How could you not love a sexy, tech savvy man who does and says all the right things!?!? The "bad boy" character has been written over and over again...this novel shows what it's like to find a decent man!!!!

    Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely
    Review by Hetty

I was really excited for Trophy Husband to be released because I am a HUGE Lauren Blakely fan. I devoured all the teasers and patiently counted down the days until May 21st.

I wouldn’t mind falling in love again. The kind where you can’t help it. The kind that takes your breath away. The kind that’s meant to be. ~McKenna

I have to start with McKenna Bell. She obviously stole the show here. I was laughing so hard at her inner dialogue and wild, vivid imagination. I totally want to be her best friend! McKenna was burnt to a crisp by her ex-fiancé and is having a difficult time completely moving on. The idea of finding a “trophy husband” came to her after a run in with her ex and his hot, young wife. Why can’t a woman play the same game of marrying a young plaything? Well, McKenna is determined to prove a point!

With the help of her friends (GIRL POWER!) and her online blog turned TV show, McKenna finds the steam to get this idea moving. She is a hopeless romantic who desperately wants the fairytale and happily ever after but she feels she will never find prince charming. The fear of abandonment runs deeps in her veins and she cannot let go of the damage her ex inflicted. So, why not settle for a gorgeous piece of man-boy meat to be her kept man?

He’s lickable. He’s kissable. He’s chat-up-able. He’s precisely the type of guy a girl can fall into some kind of crazy crush for. ~McKenna

Chris McCormick causes quite the distraction for McKenna’s perfectly planned out scheme. With his surfer boy hair and brilliant, crazy green eyes, Chris is the definition of ‘Holy Mary Mother of Hotness’. Not only is he amazing on the eyes but Chris is intelligent, driven, witty, interesting, and romantic. He is her perfect match and McKenna tries her hardest to deny their intense chemistry. She knows they would be fantastic together since she is easily able to play out their relationship in her head.

“That time at the electronics store, the first thing I noticed was you were hot. The second thing I noticed was you were funny. The third thing I noticed was you were really cool. And the fourth thing I noticed was you had on this cool tee-shirt with a squirrel waterskiing on it. I like a chick with a good tee-shirt collection.” ~Chris

The banter between McKenna and Chris was wonderful. Their connection is easy, flirty, fun, and light-hearted. I was extremely happy reading their conversations because it actually felt real, these two individuals slowly forming an indestructible bond. You know how HOT things could be if she just let go…

I LOVED this book! I started and finished it in one day because I could not put it down. I was delighted to read another fabulous novel from Lauren Blakely. As always, her stories leave me feeling genuinely content and full of cheer.

    5 Bliss-filled 5 Diamonds rating!

By the way… the concept of a “trophy husband” is quite comical because all I can picture is a cabana boy fanning a rich, elderly woman with a large palm tree leaf. I have this book to thank for that!

This book was a nice break for me. So often I get caught up in serious and intense stories, but Trophy Husband was a great light-hearted, flirty, and fun romantic read. I fell in love with the characters and I smiled the whole way through!

I really liked McKenna. She's successful in her career, she has great friends, and loves her dog. The only thing she's missing is a great guy. Her heart was shattered when her ex broke up with her the day before their wedding for a younger woman. Keep in mind that McKenna is only in her late twenties. To me, that's still young. But really, it was a good thing, however it still hurt her at the time. And well...it still hurts. But she gets a great idea to start a search for a Trophy Husband. She runs her own Fashion Blog, so it's the perfect outlet for her to conduct her search. Some of the contenders for this project are certainly interesting. There was Triple D, Dave Dybdahl and Steely Dan Duran. I lol'd so hard at these two guys names alone. Not to mention her experience with both dates. Especially Steely Dan Duran. But there was one guy in particular who actually did catch her eye. Chris. She met him before she began her quest and they find that they have more than a few things in common. Not to mention the crazy chemistry they seem to have.

Chris stole my heart pretty early on. He's smart, charming, funny, and incredibly sweet. Plus, he's a surfer. That bumped him up a few more notches for me. And add in the fact that he's kind of nerd...and I was a goner for Chris. Really though, how can you not fall for a guy who says things like this:

"That time in the electronics store, the first thing I noticed was you were hot. The second thing I noticed was you were funny. The third thing I noticed was you were really cool. And the fourth thing I noticed was you had on this cool tee-shirt with a squirrel waterskiing on it. I like a chick with a good tee-shirt collection."

See what I mean??? Absolutely adorable. Not only was Chris the perfect guy for McKenna, but he's also pretty darn sexy. There were a few steamy scenes between Chris and McKenna that had me holding the Kindle a bit tighter. No joke. I think I will always think of Chris and McKenna now every time I look at arcade games. Umph.

Overall, Trophy Husband was a really enjoyable read for me. It made me laugh and swoon. Not only did I like the main characters, but the supporting characters were likable as well. With the exception of her awful ex, Todd. I was kind of sad to see it end. I was enjoying Chris and McKenna so much that the ending kind of snuck up on me. If you're looking for a light-hearted, sweet, fun read...check this one out!

    Quotes:
~Okay, so evidently, I both want a boyfriend and the kind of oral plundering that makes you quiver, and roll your eyes in the back of your head, and grab the guy's soft, shaggy hair, and shout his name over and over into oblivion.-Loc 624

~"The real reason I agreed to do your contest wasn't to promote my show. I couldn't care less. I did it because I wanted to be in the running. I want to be the only one in the running. I want you."-Loc 1999

~Because the truth is I know what I want. I've known since way back when I first went trolling for a Trophy Husband on Craigslist. I knew then I wanted a boyfriend, not a husband. Now, I just know who I want that boyfriend to be.-Loc 2092

I bought the boxed set Tangled Up In Love which included:
    Caught Up In Us
    Pretending He's Mine
    Trophy Husband
    Playing With Her Heart

These can all be read as stand alone books but I recommend reading them in the above order. They are all wrapped up in each other, both character and timewise. In the boxed set, there are 648 pages (NOOK).

All four books are about finding love and what it means to each different set of couples. There are also steamy love scenes in all the books, which is always good, right?

Lauren Blakely's writing style is smooth and very believable. You can picture all the characters as if they were your neighbors or best friends.

    I highly recommend this series.

Slow start but a great HEA

This story started out slow for me and then it picked up a little. I stuck with it and glad I did.

I loved the teasing banter between her and Chris and how they were perfect for each other even if it took her longer to figure it out.

It was a cute story about making a point and getting over your ex. About moving on, taking a chance and opening your heart again.
