Overview

Just what Genna Hastings needed: a conceited creep of a new neighbor with rippling muscles, mile-wide shoulders, and a wicked smile that could melt stone! It wasn't often that women resisted star quarterback J. J. Hennessy, but he was ready to trade all the cover girls he's dated for the adorable lady next door. With his summer sky eyes and kisses that stole her sanity and her will power, J. J. was impossibly charismatic, magnificently male-and a bachelor father who was in danger of losing custody of his little girl, unless he could persuade Genna to help change his fast-lane image in time! She was tempted by his offer, and by him-but she couldn't be head over heels in love with a wildman football player, could she? J. J. insisted that opposites attracted, just like magnets, but Genna wanted security, and a man who'd always be there. Could he make her believe he was her man for all seasons?

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Available for the first time on audio, this 1988 Loveswept romance, prolific New York Times best-selling author Hoag's debut novel, shows definite signs of its age—e.g., no cell phones, no Internet. But this only adds charm to Hoag's humorous tale of schoolteacher Genna and her attempts to keep pace with modern life in the 1980s. Actress/narrator Deanna Hurst impressively portrays a wide range of female characters, from a housekeeper to a five-year-old. Though she doesn't manage to project the bass tones one might expect from a macho-yet-sensitive male like Genna's new neighbor, professional football player J.J., she does bring the right pacing and energy to his characterization. Romance fans will be entertained. [See Top Audio, LJ 9/15/09.—Ed.]—Juleigh Muirhead Clark, Colonial Williamsburg Fdn. Lib., VA

This book had my family checking on me to see if I was okay! I was tempted to share some of the funnier dialogue between the two main characters. The characters were so easy to like and understand. I read this is one sitting and truly recommend it as a book to take your mind off whatever else might be happening. I'm saving it to read again! This author hasn't disappointed yet.

This is romantice escapism at it's best. You've already seen all these people in other books, just in different clothes and different times. This is relaxing, laughing out loud reading and should be saved for the day your hair didn't work, you spilled the coffee, and the cat peed on your shoes! Buy it and wait . . . the day will come!

I had never read any books by Tami Hoag until I purchased The Trouble with JJ. I set time aside just to read before going to bed. I love sports and it had just the right amount of romance.

I have read my share of romantic books. but this one i couldn't keep it down. it was to funny. they should start witting romance books like this, instead of the dramatic. this one i couldn't keep the grin off my face and laughing. the eccentric man is something you don't hear about ever. how he wins over the woman that he knows he is his true mate. but she has been burned before and he has to woo her. it is truly to funny how he puts the humor into the relationship. This was the first book i read from Tami Hoag, but it will not be my last. i just hope that her writing style is the same and that i can't stop the laughing! I recommend this to anyone who is down and is need of a major pick me up! You won't stop the grin eating up your face and that is a guarantee.
