    Good survey of troubleshooting techniques

    This is a large book, which is good, because there is a lot of material to cover. The author does a good job of covering a wide range of topics. Even though I have extensive experience in diagnosing computer problems, I was only moderately familiar with newer Windows 7 troubleshooting capabilities and I did learn some useful techniques.

    The author provides specific "safe computing" recommendations (e.g., proper backup, partitioning, anti-malware, firewall etc.). For me, parts of the book were basic but I suspect that people with less experience would find them useful. I thought it was great that the author did cover (although not in great depth) using non-Windows tools (like Linux based live CDs) in specific dire situations.
