Children's Literature - Sara Lorimer
Trucks it is called, and trucks it is. All kinds of trucks are covered in this book, from custom pickups to Australian road-trains. Do you know the difference between articulated trucks and rigid trucks? Do you know what a cabover is? How about an autonomous military truck? Steam trucks, mobile cranes, fire trucks, dump trucks, monster trucksall this and so much more waits for you. Each page is loaded with information, with the main body text, captions for the illustrations, boxes of "fast facts," photographs, and labeled diagrams, but it isn't too cluttered. The sentences are short and clear, but the content is not dumbed down, which makes it appropriate for young children who are being read to, and also for older children who are still a bit shaky when it comes to reading (including late starters). The only question left unanswered is "Why do little kids love trucks so much?" Includes a glossary, timeline, Web site recommendations, and an index. From the "Mighty Machines" series.
