Bestselling author and Bible teacher, Steve Farrar, reminds us through the story of Daniel that true courage can be ours daily and it comes from the one true Sovereign God.
Everyone can recall as a young child having the courage to head out the door—whether it was to your first day of school, your first game in little league, or your piano lesson. Then life takes over and you lose your bravado, giving in to the fears of the world around you.
In True Courage readers will discover a God who provides incredible courage to us in the midst of uncertainty, even through treacherous, evil days, and the courage to face lions in their den—or an unexpected job loss, the diagnosis of a sick child, or the return of a debilitating cancer.

"Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die.he must not merely cling to life, for then he will be a coward, and will not escape. He must not merely wait for death, for then he will be a suicide, and will not escape. He must seek his life in a spirit of furious indifference to it; he must desire life like water and yet drink death like wine."
There are those in the bible who had to rely on courage to get them through difficult times. Daniel, Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego needed courage when standing up to the king and refusing to bow to an idol. The widow who fed Elijah with the last of her food needed courage to trust God would provide. David needed courage when Saul was threatening his life. True courage is continuing to trust God even when life is scary and may not make sense. There is nothing we will face that is bigger than God.
I enjoyed this book. Farrar makes so many good points about courage. He talks about how God delivering us is "no small thing." God is beyond capable to come through for us and this was a good reminder. "Know this: it is a slight thing [no big deal] for the Lord to deliver you. He knows all about your situation, and he knows every detail of what threatens, intimidates, depresses, or discourages you. He knows more about it than you do. He has not forgotten you, so do not forget him." I'll definitely want to keep this book on hand to pick up again when I need those reminders of acting despite my fears.

In True Courage: Emboldened by God in a Disheartening World, best-selling author and Bible teacher, Steve Farrar aids readers in discovering a God who provides incredible courage to us in the midst of uncertainty, even through treacherous, evil days, and the courage to face lions in their den - or an unexpected job loss, the diagnosis of a sick child, or the return of a debilitating cancer.
Farrar takes a look at the courageous life of the prophet Daniel and shares God's process for shaping and molding everyday guys into men He can use. Daniel was a man who was used mightily by God, but he wasn't born bold. He was shaped and molded by a process in which God worked providentially, strangely, and slowly to equip Daniel for his calling.
I received this book compliments of B & B Media Group for my honest review. I believe this is a book to read especially in these tough and turbulent times we find ourselves in where men can begin to question whether or not they have the courage to move forward. This book will aid them in finding out how Daniel dealt with similar circumstances and how he rose to the challenge time and time again.
This book is available in paperback and eBook formats and rates a 4 out of 5 stars.

True Courage by Steve Farrar is the latest book in the Bold Men of God series and will inspire you to find true courage with God in a world that daily inspires fear. The authors in-depth study of the life of the prophet Daniel is an excellent tool for the Christian who is seeking instruction in fighting life's daily battles. Although Steve Farrar's ministries are usually directed to men, this book will also be a blessing to women.
Daniel, one of the most courageous men in Scripture, stood up for God in every opportunity that was presented to him. He defied the king, he boldly gave God's messages, and he stood for truth. Amongst evil, he never backed down. Daniel was not born this way, but allowed God to refine Him for His purpose.
There is one thing different about this Bible study book from many others I have read. There is no need to stop and look up passages in your Bible because the Scripture is already include in the text. That small feature makes this book very accessible, especially to new believers. I highly recommend this book, especially to the men in your life!
