Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Urban fiction fans will welcome the melodramatic final entry in bestseller Woods's True to the Game trilogy, which vividly depicts the 1990s drug culture. After a vicious beating, Gena Scott, a child of the Philadelphia housing projects, awakes in a four-poster bed in a luxurious house and is overjoyed to see her drug-dealer lover, Quadir, whom she thought was dead. Quadir, she learns, has been in hiding, protected by the beautiful Dr. Amelia Hopkins, who saved his life after he was shot full of bullets. Gena is torn between her passion for Quadir and her new relationship with Jerrell Jackson, who happens to be Quadir's arch enemy. Fortunately for our heroine, neither a stalker, a rapist, nor crooked cops can thwart the progress of true love. (July)

    could have been better

I was a lil. disappointed with this here, she really grabbed me on the first book I couldnt put it down. Than it just went down hill after that. all that could have been summed up in one whole book.

    Wow not what I expected??????

Gena and Quadir were such great characters, the true epitome of a Gangster love story. Because TTTG I & II were such page turners. I expected the same for TTTG III .....NOT. This one is about some sex crazed maniac with a vengeance and a score to settle. The sick sex stuff really turned be off and was very different writing compared to the first 2 books. Sorry Teri I am a true fan please try to do better next time. But to complete the set I do suggest you buy and read it to form your own opinion

ALWAYS BE TRUE TO THE GAME

THIS BOOK WAS BREATHE TAKING. THE PLOT WAS OFF THE CHAIN, WHAT I LOVE MORE ABOUT THE WAS THAT GENA GOT HER MAN AT THE END, YES SHE HAD TO FIGHT BUT SHE CAME OUT ON TOP. THIS BOOK REALLY WALKS YOU THE STREET OF CRIME, IT ALSO LET YOU KNOW THE POLICE IS DIRTY IN EVERY STATE. FOR A MINUTE I THOUGHT THE COPS WAS ONLY CROOKED, BUT THE BOOK SHOW YOU WHAT PEOPLE WOULD DO FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY.

    Final

True to the Game III begins where part 2 left off. Gena wakes up in a unfamiliar surroundings all bruised and bandage. Wondering who saved her life from the brutal attack which was caused by Jerrell. She receive the shock of her life when she comes face to face with her true love and savior Quadir, who was suppose to have been shot and killed. There are so many unanswered questions that Gena is looking for answers from Quadir. Of course she is highly upset because how could he go this long without letting her know that he was still amongst the living. Quadir takes us back to the night he was shot up and how he survived, his rehabilitation with the help of Dr. Amelia Hopkins, and how he was the one behind keeping her safe when she thought someone was following her. The question is has Quadir moved on with his life or is Gena his one and only true love? True to the Game III is a pretty good read, but not one of Mrs. Woods best. The book did keep my attention. The book also went different ways, there a few people after Gena including some crooked cops but in the end will justice prevail? Tangerine, 'Reader's Paradise Book Club'

The anticipation was greater than the read

I read True to the Game I, II, and III. I couldn't wait for book III...so I thought. What a disappointment. I read the book in less than a day and that was with putting the down repeatedly. It was a hard read due to the unbelievable turns the author chose. I knew who the unidentified man was which was a disappointment. I was hoping it would have been Malcolm. The whole female doctor character was again unbelieveable. I know about patient transference so I can accept Qua's response to the doctor but her response was an unimaginative crutch for the author who was lazy with her storying line. The doctor was just too convenient. Author could have used the mafia since Qua did pay for his safety. He could have fallen in love with a mafia princess if the love interest thing was so important. Rik's action was untrue to his character. I bet the author took a day to write this book. The story is weak to say the least...written like she had a deadline not a desire to satisfy the readers that invented in her trilogy. The best part is that the book is a paperback instead of a hardcover but, the price still feels like a robbery given the storyline. I do NOT recommend this book. Trust me, whatever ending you created for yourself is better than what the author came up with.

never as good as the first

this book was ok sometimes you need to leave well enough alone. this book makes gena so stupid how is she not going to know the person that killed quadir for real. i just hope the third one is better i absolutely loved the first one couldn't put it down this one i kinda struggled to get through it hoping it would pick up some where i read it thinking i was going to find out who the mystery man was but no you dragged it out to make another book like i said it was ok i hope the third hopefully the last is much better.

    A very good read...

This story was wild! A definite page turner. I read it in about 5 hours. I couldn't wait to get to the end and I'm happy it ended the way it did.

    Must read

Out of all 3 books this was the best one. This book had everything in it from killing to corupt cops. Some parts in the book was a little to graphic to read but it was good. So if you read part 1 and 2 you must read 3.
