All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
It is remarkable how many obscure recordings are included on this CD. Twenty-five trumpeters most from the swing or pre-swing era are featured, often as sidemen. The music ranges from a 1925 Original Memphis Five recording with Phil Napoleon to Dizzy Gillespie soloing with Cab Calloway's Orchestra. Even veteran collectors will probably not have the majority of these performances. The other trumpeters heard from are Bunny Berigan, Louis Prima, Jack Purvis, Frankie Newton, Charlie Spivak, Mannie Klein with a Hawaiian group, Bobby Hackett, Ziggy Elman, Roy Eldridge, Sonny Dunham, Wingy Manone, Red Nichols, Max Kaminsky, Sweets Edison, the obscure Frank Humprhies, Hot Lips ...

Certainly this is a CD well worth searching for.
